Wikipedia:Destubathon of the Americas

[edit]

Project members are invited to participate in the Destubathon of the Americas, a contest/editathon which will run from May 1 to May 31. The goal is to destub as many of our 475,000+ stubs for the Americas (from Alaska down to Chile) as possible. A good chance to have fun in expanding many of our old stale stubs and win up to $2680 in Amazon vouchers for expanding stub articles. Sign up in the Contestants/participants section on the contest page if interested. Even if not interested in prizes you are still warmly welcome to participate in it as an editathon! Hopefully we can achieve something significant in the month of May together! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:06, 14 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Project updates and fixes (through May 16, 2026)

[edit]

Here's the latest updates and fixes I have completed for WikiProject Kentucky:

  • Revised intro to update the note about this project's recognized content; it's not really called a "hall of fame" any longer and it has more than GA/FA articles in it.
  • New reports (click on each to learn more; five of these are shown in "Current project backlogs"):
  • Refactored a number of reports to make use of more robust article link (result) counting so more immediate reporting of changes can occur.
  • Refactored "Current project backlogs" to make use of more robust article link counting in reports, as well as to simplify adding database reports to the list. I also added useful notes under the titles of some concerns, including a link to our 500 largest stubs to assist with reasessment of stubs.
  • Reworked "Past Week's Hot Edits" to improve its aesthetics and readability.
  • Added "Recent in-project activity" section to bottom of front page (similar to what WP Louisville has).
  • In the Forgotten report, I more than doubled the number of intersections with other reports to help editors make better decisions on which articles to make new edits to (making them no longer forgotten).
  • In the OldIssues report:
    • Added a caution to not remove cleanup tags from articles just because they are old, and that they may be removed only after the issue they describe has been fully addressed.
    • Fixed bug where the footer in each year table was mistakenly sortable with the entries.
  • Redesigned the "Opt out of leaderboard" list to enhance clarity.
  • Made various other tweaks and fixes.
  • Note: I have additional project cleanups and reorganizations in mind, but I haven't been able to schedule time for them yet.

As always, I hope you enjoy the updates. Please let me know if you have any questions or ideas for other improvements. the Stefen 𝕋ower 02:16, 17 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Sublimity

[edit]

Is Sublimity City, Kentucky the "town of Sublimity" founded by Christopher Columbus Graham (1784–1885), according to ? If not, what became of the latter? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 20:05, 28 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Project updates and fixes (through August 18, 2026)

[edit]

Here's the latest updates and fixes I have completed for WikiProject Kentucky:

  • Front page:
    • Improved intro prose.
    • Added basic project milestones like what is seen in some other projects (e.g. Nebraska, Louisville).
    • Moved "Recent in-project activity" to its own page "Activity" to improve load time for the front page.
    • Cleaned up shortcuts in the status template and infobox.
    • Moved the infobox code to a subpage.
  • Reports:
    • Heavily refactored the SQL query used for the OldIssues report to dramatically improve run performance. Also now catching any issues from 2000-05.
    • Revised the intro for the FewCats and Nursery reports to improve clarity.
    • In the Forgotten report, made the "Last Edited" timestamp easier to understand for more readers, and made the SQL used to build the report more robust, resulting in the addition of 10 missing entries.
    • Fixed display of unassessed articles in various reports; in the Rating field, instead of a blank, it will now show '???'.

Enjoy! Please let me know if you have any questions or ideas for other improvements. the Stefen 𝕋ower 01:36, 19 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
