World Baseball Classic articles

[edit]

Hi all, I am usually on RC patrol and I am seeing a large amount of rapid edits on a few World Baseball Classic articles, and I'm honestly at a loss regarding what they could possibly mean. I was wondering if anyone more familiar with them can take a look:

This is certainly strange behavior going on, over 500+ edits to the WBC main page in a span of a week. Also, the user in question has split out the rules of eligibility and other rules for the WBC into a new article called World Baseball Classic rules, which I am considering creating an AfD for as I don't see why that shouldn't just be in the main article. Need help finding sources for niche minor-leaguer

[edit]

Hello, I have found that the article for Greg Bicknell, a former minor-leaguer, does not have sufficient sources and would like help finding more in hopes of bettering the article. I would also like to note that the article has been the target of vandalism. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Sponge99fvuj (talk) 19:52, 27 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Sponge99fvuj: Contemporary local newspapers often have good coverage of their hometown players while playing for the respective teams, so that would be an excellent place to check. A newspapers.com subscription can make the task easier. Re: vandalism, all of the BLP violations occurred in a 13-minute spree over half a day ago, so I'm inclined to leave it for now since I don't see a preventative need to block or protect. It looks like relevant warnings have been issued. If the disruption returns, let me know, and I'll look into administrative action. I've also watchlisted the page for good measure. Related to what Left guide said, it looks like your account is too young to get access to WP:LIBRARY, but I was able to look up Bicknell using its newspapers.com access. There are too many results for me to sort through any time soon, but I was able to clip a couple of the first few articles that came up: one from 1994 and one from 2005. Hopefully that helps a little bit. Hatman31 (he/him · talk · contribs) 23:32, 27 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Follow-up: Robert K. Fitts notability (new independent coverage)

Disclosure: I represent Robert K. Fitts. I asked about his notability here previously, but the thread was archived without a response: [paste archive link]. Since then, his book In the Japanese Ballpark has received independent coverage from Adam Gopnik in The New Yorker ([paste New Yorker link]). I’d welcome any editor’s view on whether he now meets the notability guidelines. Thank you. ~~~ Jgekizian (talk) 17:11, 9 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Jgekizian: but the thread was archived without a response That is most definitely false. I responded to your request with advice to ask your question at the Wikipedia:Teahouse, where such questions are appropriate and have editors who are willing and able to assist you. You even responded Thanks for the heads-up. Additionally, use of AI or LLM-generated requests may be ignored or deleted, so please do try to write your question in your own words as best you can, even if English is not your first language. Please heed this advice. Rgrds. --BX (talk) 16:22, 11 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for the confusion on my part. Thanks for responding. ~2026-54731-81 (talk) 18:48, 11 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Changes to season infoboxes? Where's the consensus?

[edit]

FWIW, where's the consensus to add additional (regular season/postseason/World Series) dates info in the Duration section of MLB season infoboxes? Someone has done so, between the 1903 & 1978 MLB season articles. GoodDay (talk) 20:55, 12 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Also in the infoboxes of those Major League Baseball season articles. Under the League section of the infobox, Major League Baseball has been replaced with American League & National League. Again, where's the consensus for these changes? GoodDay (talk) 21:00, 12 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Picking 1915 at random, it looks like both changes were made 2 1/2 years ago. WP:WEAKSILENCE seems in play. Rgrds. --BX (talk) 22:50, 12 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
