It would be nice to add in the 100th and 1000th featured article to this cat. Does anyone know what these are. GameKeeper 14:28, 11 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Approaching 2.5 million

[edit]

We are approaching the 2,500,000 mark. As I write, there are 2,496,996 articles. Keep your eyes peeled! − Twas Now ( talk • contribs • e-mail ) 14:08, 9 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

What was the 2.5M article? Nadando (talk) 23:47, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Joe Connor. I've added it to this category, and made some minor fixes to the format of the page. UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 13:46, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

So, what was the article 3500000?--Avala (talk) 14:04, 4 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yes, what was it? I don't know. Lanthanum-138 (talk) 05:03, 27 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Significant components of Wikipedia

[edit]

Does anybody know when significant sections of Wikipedia, such as Wikipedia: Village pump or Wikipedia: Articles for deletion were first set up? If so, it would make sense to have the year in which they were set up in one of Wikipedia: Milestones pages. Vorbee (talk) 15:20, 17 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia hits 6,000,000 articles, enter in chart

[edit]

Wikipedia hit 6,000,000 English articles today, January 23, 2020. Anyone know the milestone article? Anyone know the 3,500,000 article? Is missing in milestones table. Thanks and have a good day.2601:581:8000:BDC0:404D:B77A:D56F:92BF (talk) 22:35, 23 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Re recent edit summary

[edit]

@Ahecht:: re this edit summary: it absolutely is in the database dump, under the Unix timestamp 988157313. The only reason I can think of re why you might have missed it is if you forgot to search for the title with an underline instead of a space. Graham87 (talk) 03:32, 30 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Graham87 I'll have to check again when I'm back on the machine with the dump, but I searched Titanic, Thomson, and even Alvin in case it had originally been created with his real name. I might've been accidentally been searching a truncated version of the database since that timestamp would've been long after 1,000 pages were created. --Ahecht (TALK

@Ahecht: Yeah the dump you want is the August one, not the February one (which, on reflection, you wouldn't have used either because it wouldn't have contained the "Statistics" page). Also, while using WikiBlame, I discovered the answer to the question in your edit summary: the Titanic Thompson page was added in this edit, whose edit summary mentions a very flawed method indeed for figuring out Wikipedia's milestone articles, particularly because the Nostalgia Wikipedia doesn't have every edit ever made, unlike the 2001 UseModWiki database dumps. By oldest pages, I assume the IP that wrote that edit summary meant the ancientpages special page on the Nostalgia Wikipedia (which ranks pages by the time they were last edited, not by when they were created), on which Titanic Thompson is ranked #1008. Graham87 (talk) 17:13, 31 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
I was using the August dump, but it looks like the script I was using to parse rclog to filter out page creations stopped after the first megabyte (which means it stopped in late March). --Ahecht (TALK
