Today's featured list  Today's featured list is a section included on the Main Page on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, in which an introduction to one of Wikipedia's featured lists is displayed. See this month's queue. The lists appearing on the Main Page are scheduled by the featured list director, currently Giants2008. To be eligible to appear on the Main Page, a list must already be featured. For more information on the featured list promotion process, please see the featured list candidates, as well as the featured list criteria. In addition, a blurb is drafted, introducing the subject of the list. Blurbs are roughly 1,000 characters in length, with no reference tags, alternate names or extraneous boldface type, although a link to the specified featured list should be emboldened; a relevant picture is also usually included with the blurb. The previous three lists that were featured on the Main Page appear along the bottom, in reverse chronological order. You can submit a list to be scheduled at the submissions page. At the moment, lists are scheduled by the featured list director or by the featured list delegates, although we will eventually be devising a community-based system for selecting each day's list. We encourage editors to submit and to review as many blurbs as possible. The discography of Kittie, a Canadian heavy-metal band, consists of seven studio albums, five extended plays, one compilation album, one demo album, four video albums, eighteen singles and twenty-one music videos. Kittie was formed in 1996 by guitarist and vocalist Morgan Lander, guitarist Fallon Bowman, and drummer Mercedes Lander. The band currently consists of Morgan, Mercedes, guitarist Tara McLeod, and bassist Ivy Vujic. Kittie are estimated to have sold more than one million albums worldwide, primarily in the United States. The band's debut album Spit was released in November 1999 through Ng Records, and reissued through Artemis Records in January 2000. It peaked at number 79 on the US Billboard 200 and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. Kittie's second album, Oracle (2001), earned the band its highest charting positions worldwide, debuting at number 57 on the Billboard 200 with 33,000 copies sold. (Full list...)

Hornbills are birds in the families Bucerotidae (the arboreal hornbills) and Bucorvidae (the ground hornbills). They are found in Africa and Asia. Most hornbills live in tropical and sub-tropical forests, or savannahs. Sixty four species are recognised by the International Ornithologists' Union, though the exact number is disputed due to taxonomic disagreements. The IUCN list two species as critically endangered, six as endangered, seventeen as vulnerable, six as near threatened, and thirty-one as of least concern. The species with the smallest estimated population is the critically endangered Sulu hornbill, estimated to number fewer than fifty mature individuals. The species with the largest estimated population is the vulnerable Palawan hornbill, which numbers up to fifty thousand mature individuals. Species of fossil hornbills are known from the Miocene onward, however, the fossil record of the taxon is poor. (Full list...)
