DCWC closing update

[edit]

Three weeks ago, the 2026 Developing Countries WikiContest came to a close! After three months of competition, we have our winners. Bronze Belt Buckle – 3rd place OpalYosutebito (submissions) comes in third with 525 points earned from a large series of good articles about pandas. Silver Belt Buckle – 2nd place Vestrian24Bio (submissions), with an immense number of submissions relating to cricket, comes in second with 1040 points. And our runner-up from last year makes their way to the top of the podium: Gold Belt Buckle – 1st place Simongraham (submissions) takes gold with 1065 points, coming from another round of good articles about African jumping spiders!

The award for the most countries covered goes, once again, to Simongraham (submissions) who submitted articles under 30 flags! Vestrian24Bio (submissions) tops the chart for the most quality articles (23 good articles). Kisseran (submissions) and OpalYosutebito (submissions) tie for the award for most submissions under a single country; both made 14 submissions related to China. The award for most submissions related to women goes to GreenLipstickLesbian (submissions) with 12 biographies about women. We also have a tie for the most reviews! Both Republic of Molossia Dragonhawk12 (submissions) and Simongraham (submissions) submitted 23 reviews each for the category!

Multiple DCWC records were also broken! Simongraham (submissions) set the new record for the most total points, with 1100. Vestrian24Bio (submissions) set two inaugural records, earning the contest's first featured and good topics. GreenLipstickLesbian (submissions) submitted 29 In the news entries, 12 more than the previous record.

Among the participants' contributions were six FAs, five FLs, 132 GAs, and a number of DYKs, ITNs, and reviews of every kind—far more than last year! Regardless of your level of participation, every contestant can be proud to have contributed to a major step in countering the systemic bias on Wikipedia. Every year, millions of readers and editors around the globe use Wikipedia to educate themselves and communicate with others about parts of the world that often receive less attention than they deserve. Thank you for participating in the contest and contributing to this effort. The DCWC will return next year, and we look forward to seeing your contributions again! However, before that...

We need your feedback! Join the conversation on the talk page to discuss your reflections on the contest (even if you didn't participate!) and help us make it better.

Why am i blocked

[edit]

i just saw i was blocked but when i saw the edits i was shocked because i never edited any of those pages?

How is it possible man ? ~2026-57044-14 (talk) 18:21, 25 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

@~2026-57044-14: You are not blocked; if you were you wouldn't have been able to leave a comment here. The notice you're seeing is a range block on specific articles, implemented because of a disruptive editor within your area. If you haven't edited and don't intend to edit those articles, there's nothing to worry about. Yue🌙 (talk) 21:47, 25 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Incorrect edit summary

[edit]

Hi Yue,

I just noticed your reversion of the most recent edit to the article for Chris Minns and I am bit confused by your edit summary as his middle name is sourced and that is evident by the the inclusion of his middle name in the lead section as opposed to the infobox, you would have deleted that too if you genuinely believed that information was not cited properly. His middle name can be found on his profile on the NSW Parliament's website and is already cited in the article. I'm not going to undo your edit however because I think only first and last names usually need to be included in the infobox as middle names are not commonly used in common speech. The purpose of my message is to point out that an edit summary should always contain accurate information. Qwerty123M (talk) 04:45, 27 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Qwerty123M: My mistake; made due to rushing. ~2026-57285-56 was trying to vandalize Chris Minns (see filter log) and the edit I reverted was likely a test edit to figure out why their vandal edits weren't going through. Full names are also typically not used in the title parameter of biography infoboxes. Yue🌙 (talk) 05:03, 27 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Fnatic coaches

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Category:Fnatic coaches indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. SMasonGarrison 23:40, 29 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Boo!

[edit]
Zahrazamedahmedi has given you some caramel and a candy apple! Caramel and candy-coated apples are fun Halloween treats, and promote WikiLove on Halloween. Hopefully these have made your Halloween (and the preceding days) much sweeter. Happy Halloween!

'"On Psych, A USA Network TV series Episode 8, The Tao of Gus, Season 6, Shawn refers to pumpkins as "Halloween Apples" because he thinks all round fruits are a type of apple.

If Trick-or-treaters come your way, add {{subst:Halloween apples}} to their talkpage with a spoooooky message!
