Perspective on a common name question

[edit]

I'm shortly going to start an article for Grand Democracy/Big Democracy 大民主.

Do you have a suggestion on which is more common name? Or a better title generally?

These things can be improved after creation anyway, but I like to start it off right. JArthur1984 (talk) 15:39, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

I just checked Chinese sources, and the preferred translation seems to be "Great democracy". That is the translation used in the term's Baidu Baike page for example. Some examples of use by Chinese educational institutions too: The Account 2 (talk) 15:49, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
That may have benefits because unlike both Big Democracy and Grand Democracy, it's not a current wiki re-direct. Thank you for your perspective. JArthur1984 (talk) 15:57, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
No problem! The Account 2 (talk) 15:59, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

LLMTRANSLATE

[edit]

Hi, please make sure you're strictly following WP:LLMTRANSLATE, you need to be reviewing the sources for WP:V, thank you Kowal2701 (talk, contribs) 18:31, 14 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I am not using LLM to translate. I do indeed check to translate accurately. Thanks for the reminder though, I will be more careful. The Account 2 (talk) 18:33, 14 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Special:AbuseLog/45192727 had markdown, which is the markup language that AI chatbots use, while Special:AbuseLog/42682351 had ChatGPT tracking parameters Kowal2701 (talk, contribs) 18:44, 14 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Really? It must've came from the Chinese version of the pages which I've translated. I should've been more careful. In the light of this, I'll stop translating these pages. The Account 2 (talk) 18:52, 14 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for reminding me of this; I should've been more careful. The Account 2 (talk) 18:52, 14 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
the chatgpt parameter does come from the zhwiki article interestingly, but that doesn't appear to be the case for the markdown? Kowal2701 (talk, contribs) 18:59, 14 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
What do you mean by markdown? the "''''The''''' '''2012–2013 Senkaku Islands tensions'''" part? I think that happened from copying the text from translating from Chinese. I might've been too quick in my edit. Sincere apologies. The Account 2 (talk) 19:04, 14 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
it's where it says *People's Daily*, the stars are markdown for italics, the only other instance of it I can find was also added by you to People's Daily (according to WP:WWT) (though it's hard to search for) Kowal2701 (talk, contribs) 19:57, 14 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Ohh, I think that came from translation too. Google Translation add the ** for some reason when translating stuff like the name of newspapers to English. i didn't think much of it when translation added those, but I can remove them if necessary. The Account 2 (talk) 20:03, 14 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
... Special:Diff/1381230405 literally triggered LLM Paste Check, meaning you copy-pasted it from a chatbot, why are you lying?? Kowal2701 (talk, contribs) 19:35, 21 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
I wasn't lying. In that case, this happened: I searched for Wang Yi's trips for October 2026, and Google AI summarized for me. I had only copied the names of the leaders he met from the search to the text. The Account 2 (talk) 19:41, 21 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
In this case, I did it because the original source provided had given the names as Jakov Milatovic, while the chatbot gave it as Jakov Milatović. I only copied the names from the chatbot. I compiled the data based on the original sources given. The Account 2 (talk) 19:44, 21 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Basically, its because the original text in the Chinese source didn't have the ć (and I don't know how to type that in my computer), so... The Account 2 (talk) 19:47, 21 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
thanks, that makes sense, sorry for the accusation Kowal2701 (talk, contribs) 19:59, 21 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

MOS

[edit]

Just a reminder that non-Latin citation titles et al. should be marked as script-title:zh like this to avoid problems with Han unification. Northern Moonlight 07:30, 25 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the reminder, I'll keep that in mind. The Account 2 (talk) 12:20, 25 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
