Message[edit]Hey, this is Shakir. Who is this? Welcome[edit]Hello Shagmaestro (interesting name, though I can hardly talk!). Welcome to Wikipedia. You might find these links helpful in editing pages or creating new ones: Tutorial, How to edit a page, Naming conventions, Manual of Style. You should probably read our policies at some point too. But don't feel you have to read every policy document before you do anything. Dive in, be bold in editing, and if you do anything wrong, someone will be quick to correct it and let you know (hopefully, politely!) If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! -- ALargeElk | Talk 16:28, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC) Wow! You sound a real macho man! Deb 17:50, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC) PS. Sorry, did I come across as sarcastic? Marquette[edit]Hi there, I was working on an article for Marquette University while you put the stub there. Would love for you to proof read it and add on as neccessary. Yardcock 18:26, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Hi, and welcome. Be sure to write in complete sentences. Check out Wikipedia:Welcome, newcomers for more tips. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 04:17, 23 Jun 2004 (UTC) Your old page[edit]Hi, your old page ([Shagmaestro]) and associated talk page have been moved to User:Shagmaestro/Old and User_talk:Shagmaestro/Old respectively. If you don't want anything there, let us know and we'll delete them. In general, you should never move a page on Wikipedia using cut-n-paste, as it loses the history - use the "Move this page" link. No harm done in the case, so you don't need to worry about it. Noel (talk) 00:31, 23 Dec 2004 (UTC) Upper Canada College[edit]I am a current student at UCC and have been involved in editing and changing the article over the last couple of months. I have reviewed both the article and the page on the UCC website and can only find one infraction of copyright regulations - one sentence long. Moreover, that sentence was an edit to factually incorrect information which remained on the page for the longest time, describing the school as a 'private school,' which is it not. Thus, that sentence (The College is an independent, non-denominational school for boys, incorporated under an Act of the Legislature of the Province of Ontario, and is administered by a seventeen-member Board of Governors as a public trust,) was used as a reference, and can be altered to avoid the infringement. A lot of the rich history of the College was edited out of the article because, apparently, it sounded too impressive and boosterish - the same type of text on the "more about us" page. If I have missed other infractions, please let me know and I will be more than happy to reword or remove the offending text. I do not want to see my school's article removed over careless editing. Thank you. Travisritch 03:33, 31 Jan 2005 (UTC) US presidential line of succession.[edit]Please don't remove information unless you know that it is not factual. Condoleezza Rice is the fourth in succession to the President. President -> (1) Vice President -> (2) Speaker of the House -> (3) Head of the Senate -> (4) Secretary of State. Source: United States presidential line of succession If you can provide information contrary to this, please do so. --Bluesquareapple 19:00, 10 November 2006 (UTC) "Universally expected" Nancy Pelosi[edit]Hi, I'm going to remove "Universally" from the title here because he haven't seen any vetting yet. Yes, I'm sure she will be speaker, but lets not use such broad terms yet. It will be automatically cleared up soon anyways, so for accuracy's sake, why don't we avoid such language....for now anyways. Context[edit]It's always important to read remarks in context. You asserted that I was biting Pixel. However, if you read my remarks in context, it's quite clear I was not responding to pixel but the anon/unsigned person, who I suspect was not pixel. Specifically:
As you can see, someone specifically said "Its just the stupid article being too fancy. Why can't they make it simple and say "Christian Democrats remain the largest party"???". In context to this, I asserted, very strongly I agree, that the article wasn't being fancy and that given plurality was a well understood English word, suggesting we don't use it was just as silly as suggesting we don't use other English words. I wasn't intending to, and never have responded to pixel. While my harsh comments probably didn't help convey my POV and obviously offended a few people, I'm not apologising for them. I still think it's a bit silly to suggest we don't use plurality or that we're trying to be fancy when IMHO it accurately conveys the information and any uncertainty can be resolved by reading the link. The Official Message[edit] Edmond Blanchard[edit]I notice that you have tagged the article Edmond Blanchard as not NPOV, I wonder if you could let me and others know what you find non-neutral on the talk page so that your concerns can be addressed. - Jord 21:32, 3 January 2007 (UTC) Participation Drive[edit]League of Copyeditors participation drive![edit]Dear League member, We've started a participation drive for the remainder of February. Thanks for your help! Rintrah 09:35, 6 February 2007 (UTC) Response to help request[edit]I watch Category:Wikipedians requesting help improving their user pages, and saw you appear there. Your user page looks like a good start to me, but is mostly userboxes. The main improvements I can think of would be use your own words more, to put the Babelbox in its default location (and only put language-related userboxes in it), and then either remove or move to a /Personal sub page the "just for kicks" userboxes, and retain on the your user page the userboxes that genuinely tell other Wikipedians something Wikipedia-relevant about you. For instance, travel, magazine and TV preferences, etc. are not particularly informative from a WP perspective, though someone more deeply interested in what makes you tick might find them of interest on a /Personal page. What is or isn't really WP-relevant is a judgement call. Your location probably is, as is your interest in broad categories such as politics, since this may guide people one what to seek your input about, what WikiProjects to invite you to, etc. One userbox about military service would also probably be broadly informative, with more detailed ones saved for /Personal. Please see my user page for an example of how to break up a huge "blob" of userboxes, and arrange them so that they enhance the text they appear with. I don't say mine is some "model" for how to do it, just an example. I put stats up at the top, then ones that relate to my activities and editing, with some text talking about that stuff too, then Wikiphilosophical ones down in that section, where I have nascent essays on Notability and so forth. Hope this helps and gives you some ideas. :-) PS: If you want to do something more whiz-bang and different, I'd advise looking at a lot of admins' pages. Many of them have figured out some very nice styling with wikitables and such. — SMcCandlish [talk] [contrib] ツ 19:02, 14 February 2007 (UTC) Pinned Map Image[edit]Hey! That's pretty neat. Is there a nice easy way to do that or did you just open loads of pins in many layers and move 'em around to approximately the right place? I want one. =) Goyston talk, contribs, play 02:52, 15 February 2007 (UTC) Userpage Fix-Up[edit]I saw your request for a userpage fix-up, and I can group your userboxes in a way similar to the one on my userpage (just tell me how thick you want the border and what color you want it). An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:76 appleby logo.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Shagmaestro. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 01:53, 15 May 2007 (UTC) Orphaned non-free image (Image:Canadian Maritime Command.PNG)[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Canadian Maritime Command.PNG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media). If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 20:20, 16 June 2007 (UTC) Hi. I'm sorry to bother you, but as a LoCE member, I just wondered if you would be willing to have a look through the Sheerness article. It is currently a Featured Article Candidate and needs a copy-edit for grammar by someone who hasn't yet seen it. Any other ways to improve the article would also be welcome. Thank you very much, if you can. Epbr123 17:41, 8 July 2007 (UTC) Wikimania 2009[edit]
