New pages patrol January 2025 Backlog drive

January 2025 Backlog Drive | New pages patrol
On 1 January 2025, a one-month backlog drive for new pages patrol will begin in hopes of addressing the growing backlog. Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Each article review will earn 1 point, while each redirect review will earn 0.2 points. Streak awards will be given out based on consistently hitting point thresholds for each week of the drive. Barnstars will also be granted for re-reviewing articles previously reviewed by other patrollers during the drive. Interested in taking part? Sign up here.
You're receiving this message because you are a new page patroller. To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

Disambiguation on ICAO airport code lists

Thank you for getting all those dab links bypassed. When I was putting all those lists together, I myself tried to stay clear of as many disambiguation pages as possible. When I got the notification that I had missed quite a few of them, my intent was to go back over the lists and find the rest of the dab links on my own. --  Denelson83  19:10, 20 October 2026 (UTC)

Orestes disambiguation

Hello! On the Orestes disambiguation page, I noticed you changed the link target from Oreste to Oreste (disambiguation) (disambiguation). I assume that was an error with the tool you were using? Also, I wanted to ask if the actual target should be to Oreste (given name)? Thank you, --Simas10 (talk) 07:48, 21 October 2026 (UTC)

Thanks for spotting that - must have been some sort of misclick - now undone.— Rod ^talk 08:06, 21 October 2026 (UTC)

It is something weird in DisamAssist.— Rod ^talk 08:08, 21 October 2026 (UTC)

No problem! — Simas10 (talk) 08:43, 21 October 2026 (UTC)

Non-existent dabs

It helps no one to create links to non-existent disambiguation pages under the guise of an 'intentional link to DAB' First, List of schools named after Francis Xavier is not a disambiguation page. While redirects containing '(disambiguation)' that point to either a disambiguation page or some pages that serve a disambiguation-like function, I don't think there is any reason for such a redirect to a topic such as List of schools named after Francis Xavier which is a descriptive title and intentional links can be made directly to that title. older ≠ wiser 20:19, 22 October 2026 (UTC)

You are right and I apologise. Where included in "see also" sections these appeared to me to fit WP:INTDAB on a quick look but I should have looked in more detail at List of schools named after Francis Xavier and see it is labelled as a WP:SIA rather than a dab page.— Rod ^talk 20:55, 22 October 2026 (UTC)

Assistance with potential sockpuppet

I think that there could be sockpuppet edits made on English whisky by ~2026-56360-63 that connects to edits on List of whisky distilleries in England by ~2026-24864-17.I need a more experienced person to check it please and submit a case as I am not experienced with the system. ChefBear01 (talk) 22:19, 23 October 2026 (UTC)

Not my area of expertise. You could look at Wikipedia:Sockpuppetry & possibly Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/SPI/Guide to filing cases.— Rod ^talk 07:25, 24 October 2026 (UTC)

@Rodw: I jumped the gun I believe on this occasion and have done a strike though on all the text, thank you for your assistance.ChefBear01 (talk) 20:15, 26 October 2026 (UTC)

I hope it has been resolved to everyones satisfaction.— Rod ^talk 21:19, 26 October 2026 (UTC)
