Introduction to contentious topics

thanks for letting me know about the policy.

i changed the reference from a Tablet article generally about Hoffmann to the specific Tablet article that covers Frank saying she recognized Hoffman.

just realized the first link was there because that was the actual Tablet article she read where she recognized Hoffman. i don't think that was clear before.

Could you find another home for the section you restored? It doesn't fit under the WOL brief summary, because it's primarily about Kiswani, not about her work with WOL per se. Hi again Rainsage. Please just answer the question I had related to WP:OWN, WP:COI, WP:UPE on the Israel Frey page. You have an extreme interest in the page so it is not out of the ordinary of problematic behavior and you have continued to deflect in not answering my query and now instead reacted by warning me in retaliation on my talk page.

In good faith, I had even said, "...though it is also possible you are not since it seems like you do just hold a heightened interest in many Israel-Palestine related subject matter articles in general given a review of your edit history. If you are not, then simply make that clear now."

After I reverted your changes, I started a discussion on the Talk page to give you my reasons for my revert. Your initial response was to violate 1RR , accuse me of WP:OWN and WP:POV, and refrain from responding to my points. Once you and 2 other editors participated in the discussion, all of the issues I had raised in my initial post were resolved.

Since you have continued to cast aspersions, I made a post on your talk page asking you to either provide evidence for your accusations or stop . Now you are here, adding more aspersions to my Talk page. If you truly think that I am violating policies, you can report me. But I personally don't see how starting a Talk page discussion to solve our content dispute is WP:OWN or how my alleged "extreme interest" shows I have a WP:COI. I was just looking for a direct answer to my query related to UPE and COI. The behavior having created the page and then the OWN behavior after, especially for a BLP such as this, would normally get me to tag the page with potential for undisclosed paid editing potential. I was only asking that you deny and disavow such potential in clear terms. You have refused countless times now to just say, "No, I am not", unless I missed that. It sounds like you don't understand what OWN behavior is. I've avoided edit warring and attempted to resolve our content disputes through discussion despite your personal attacks against me; that is the opposite of OWN behavior. If you had actual evidence for your COI/UPE accusations, I would be happy to respond, but you don't. Given that you have cast aspersions instead of meaningfully responding to my points in talk page discussion, it appears you make personal attacks in order to derail/avoid discussion. AJ sources

For the purposes if WP:PIA, Al Jazeera is considered a "biased source", and so we should find others to use on that subject area. Please self revert or find another source when editing in this area. Iljhgtn (talk) 20:05, 5 August 2025 (UTC)

Whereas ToI is considered just "potentially biased" on PIA, "The Times of Israel is generally reliable, although potentially biased in certain topics like the Israeli–Palestinian conflict", AJ goes further it says, " Al Jazeera English and especially Al Jazeera Arabic are biased sources on the Arab–Israeli conflict". Given that, please either remove the content, add attribution, or self-revert to remove the source, and please restore the ToI source which you removed on the GHF article. Both AJ and TOI are considered "biased" but "generally reliable". Reliable sources are not required to be neutral, unbiased, or objective. Both sources can be and are used widely in PIA. If you want to change AJ's designation as "generally reliable", you would have to open a new discussion on RSN.

Edit reversion

Hi you reverted my edit, which is fine - but can you take a look at the change I was suggesting please?

Alon Ohel: Deletion nomination - the inclusion purports to be "sexual violence" but the testimony clearly states that the action performed was washing the hostage "thoroughly so he would not develop skin rashes". DCWC August update

The 2026 Developing Countries WikiContest has been running for a month now, so let's check in with the competition so far!

As of the time of writing, our top contestants are:

1. Vanderwaalforces (submissions) ahead of the pack with 715 points, with two FAs and many GAs on the monarchs of the Kingdom of Benin;
2. Simongraham (submissions) with 291 points, mostly with GAs on jumping spiders, alongside various GAN and FAC reviews;
3. Jaguarnik (submissions) with 240 points, mostly from an FA on the 1945 film Ivan the Terrible;
4. Grnrchst (submissions) with 215 points, mostly from GAs on anarchist history in various countries, alongside many GA reviews, and;
6. Vestrian24Bio (submissions) tied for 4th with 215 points, with an FL and four GAs on Indian cricket!

These competitors are in the lead, but if past experience is any indication, big shake-ups might still await us in the contest. If you're looking for a way to boost your position, we got a table of review requests from fellow participants—you can rack up a lot of points through reviews, and it might just convince others to review your own nominations! You can also look through the eligible reviews page to find other articles to review, with highlights for articles eligible for the 1.5× multiplier. Reversion at Legality of the Israeli occupation of Palestine

Hi. Your wholesale reversion removed the revised version after the sourcing objections had been addressed with additional secondary sources, and restored outdated and incorrect material. This is improper per WP:PRESERVE. your changes did not address many of the objections raised on the talk page including OR, DUE, and NPOV. it's clear from the talk page discussion that you don't have WP:CONSENSUS for your changes. i would recommend that you be more WP:CAUTIOUS before instituting major, complex changes to longstanding content to a mid-important page in a contentious topic area. it would be much easier to build consensus if you started a talk page discussion about 1 change at a time (e.g. your proposed changes to the first sentence). the WP:Wall of text's are also making discussion difficult. DCWC September update

The 2026 Developing Countries WikiContest has now been running for two months! We have seen tremendous improvements in the encyclopedic coverage of several underrepresented areas thanks to contributions from a wide range of editors. The coordinators would like to highlight some of the new participants this year who have been making notable contributions to the contest, including but by no means limited to:

• Kisseran (submissions) – 462 points, with a featured article (Ancient Cappadocian language) and various reviews primarily on Chinese topics
• Dragonhawk12 (submissions) – 280 points, who's well on their way to breaking the DCWC record for good article reviews and peer reviews
• Jishara (submissions) – 268 points, with a couple of good articles and a diverse selection of reviews as well
• Rainsage (submissions) – 113 points, with two good articles, notably the Jenin Horse
• Chickenpox4dinner (submissions) – 107 points, largely from their Did you know writing about Caribbean folklore
• Propitheque (submissions) – 105 points, from two good articles about Malagasy lemurs

With less than a month remaining until the end of the contest, it's time to get your last rounds of submissions over the finish line! Please consider picking up one of the review requests or eligible reviews to help out your fellow participants and earn some additional points in the process.
