Song Lyrics

[edit]

Is your name an homage to the song Impossible Germany by Wilco? ProofCreature (talk) 11:28, 25 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

It absolutely is :-) Possiblegermany (talk) 22:28, 25 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Have you met LikelyJapan?
That song was on Sky Blue Sky. I think I owned that album. I know I owned all the previous ones. I quit listening to Wilco after that album, but, I guess, I heard a few other songs: "Random Name Generator". Have they done anything decent since?
[Verse 1]
Impossible Germany
Unlikely Japan
Wherever you go
Wherever you land
I'll say what this means to me
I'll do what I can
Impossible Germany
Unlikely Japan
[Verse 2]
The fundamental problem
We all need to face
This is important
But I know you're not listening
Oh, I know you're not listening
[Verse 3]
If this was still new to me
I wouldn't understand
Impossible Germany
Unlikely Japan
But this is what love is for
To be out of place
Gorgeous and alone
Face to face
[Verse 4]
With no larger problems
That need to be erased
Nothing more important than to know
Someone's listening
Now I know
You'll be listening ProofCreature (talk) 14:56, 26 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Is that a user? I have not, but it's funny because I was actually considering making that my name on here.
They have not made any "new" music that I am especially interested in. Obviously Yankee Hotel Foxtrot was a masterpiece. Possiblegermany (talk) 22:27, 27 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Eh, i am not sure i agree anymore that yankee hotel foxtrot is a masterpiece. i listened to it many times, and saw wilco in concert more than a couple times. The album was great for how it blended recording studio electronica with altcountry (which was already country blended with alternative). It was a very cool sound. But i think the trouble with the record label and bane members that followed the recording is what caused all the hoopla. The band had to fine other avenues for distribution and consequentially they found a whole different audience. It was a matter of "there's no bad publicity" and "everyone loves a train wreck" (in this case the "train wreck" was the label's internal squabbling, not the recording). Summerteeth was equally very good, but it didn't get anything like the same publicity. ProofCreature (talk) 13:12, 2 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
