I would suggest joining the various related wikiprojects, for example Wikipedia:WikiProject History because meeting other editors interested in the same things might be helpful. Hi @Giorgiachristiansen that's an interesting article! To add images to a wikipedia article, you need to know the copyright status and thus whether it can be uploaded or not. The process to follow is outlined at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard . It's a bit confusing, but photos are uploaded to wikicommons and then linked from there. Happy editing! Hello & greetings! I’m trying to connect with an experienced editor willing to help shepherd a draft article through the AfC process.

The article is about a Czech-American punk rock band formed in Prague in 1992. The draft was submitted two weeks ago and declined on notability grounds, but the sourcing is genuinely strong — the band received coverage in major Czech national newspapers (Lidové Noviny, Blesk, Český Deník), cover stories and features in Czech music magazines Bang! and Rock & Pop, as well as coverage outside the ČR: Badische Zeitung, NME (a 1994 piece covering Joe Strummer joining the band onstage at a benefit concert), and MTV.

The core challenge is that most of these sources are pre-internet print publications with no online presence. The sources are all cited in the draft & I have access to scans of every clipping but it seems like the initial reviewer did not examine the sources at all.

I hope to find an experienced editor — such as yourself! — who would be willing to take a look at the draft and advise, or potentially help with resubmission. Thoughts?

Hey, I've been trying to add some links to an article, but every time I go to publish it, I get an error saying, that the server hasn't responded in time. I've tried it multiple times over the course of a couple days, but it's always the same result, or the lack of one. I can however edit my user page, it seems. Do you know if that's something on my side, or the server's? Am I missing something and I still have to do some stuff, before I'm allowed to make edits? Or do I have to ask someone else about that and if so, do you know who might be able to help me? Hi @Gnome 2403 you have hit upon a great wikipedia editorial issue there! First off, you can always move on to another article if you aren't sure. Secondly, we want wikipedia articles without subjective tone, so if you can rephrase in a more neutral fashion then that is welcome. Thirdly though, for more than superficial edits it is prob best to return to the source citation to see you are not misrepresenting it and can summarise it better. Happy editing! I am a retired professional archaeologist and college professor who for several years about 15 or so years ago had my students write and post articles about archaeological sites, projects, and archaeologists, and then had the best ones post their articles on Wikipedia, subject to obtaining the permission of any living people they were writing about. I have contributed funds to Wikipedia from time to time as well, since I think it is a valuable source of information, and far more accurate than AI generated results. I see from your profile you are a programmer so you might find yourself more comfortable browsing at for example Wikipedia:Village pump (technical) than looking for copy edits. I work irl as a copy editor so that's my bread and butter! It would be rare for me to read a page without finding something needing fixed, but that's just because it's my niche. Hi @LandauTheLion it's a good question! It shows you are getting to grips with the "wikipedia house style" of editing here. I see you've been using the links suggester, which is a good way to start off and I've put extra advice at User talk:LandauTheLion. Now to answer your question, it's fine to use discretion, you don't need to do all the suggested links. Keeping link low though, that's not necessarily the idea, since we do want the "general reader" to click through to understand what something is if it's not clear. You'll pick up the hang of when to link soon enough. There is Help:Link but it is a rather dense read - actually Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Linking is better. Two tips - we don't tend to link to well-known cities eg London or New York, and we want to be avoiding the dreaded sea of blue, so it is discouraged to link three things right next to each other. Hi @Abdullahi710 I may need more information from you to help resolve this issue but i can say for now that blue links can only occur when there is a page for the article being linked, otherwise it will be a redlink. Hence the "women in red" project which aims to turn redlinks for women into blue. So Gariire is red. Girirra language on the other hand is blue. Mujinga (talk) 11:56, 27 May 2026 (UTC)

However we will need articles with decent referencing, meaning facts cited to significant coverage in ireliable sources like national newspapers or magazines, or books published by reputable publishers. Right now on that page you have a draft page for Vincent Katongole, which would be better off as a draft. Right now it doesn't have enough sourcing to be a wikipedia article, perhaps it can in time. Although I can't find the relevant advice page to point you towards, the solution is quite simple. The reference on first mention is defined as < ref name="Hen19" > with the full info following and then on subsequent mentions is written in full as < ref name="Hen19" / > to refer back. Hope that makes sense, I can imagine it might be confusing. I already performed the change. Hi @VolumeRunner, that's a great idea to expand the Ernia page by adding info from the Italian page but please make sure any info you add is sourced properly. The only errors in red I see are 3 x "archive-url= requires archive-date=" and if you click through to Help:CS1_errors#archive_missing_date, it explains that you must add a suitable date format for the error to disappear. I've fixed most of them now. The only ones that still need fixing are the FIMI Album Chart ranking sources. The formatting looks unfamiliar and I'm not sure how to change it properly so it fits with the proper format. Even on the Italian article side, the format looks weird. I understand that writing about oneself is strongly discouraged, but my confusion is that it appears to be permitted through the Articles for Creation process, provided that the conflict of interest is disclosed and independent reviewers assess the draft.

Is writing first on Italian Wikipedia a requirement, or simply your recommendation because Italian is my native language? I chose English Wikipedia because I wanted to follow its AfC process, and many of the events and institutional sources concern both Italy and the United States.

I had a quick question about Wikipedia article creation. What does the review and approval process usually look like, and what are the main factors reviewers consider before accepting a draft?

I also noticed that many Ethiopian ministers and state ministers don't seem to have Wikipedia pages, so I was curious about how notability is typically assessed in such case.

Hi again @Rtlwa, wikipedia articles are based on notability by encyclopedic standards. What this means in pratice is tnat for any articles, we need significant coverage in reliable sources, check the blue links for more info. On English wikipedia, this then slants towards reliance on sources from Western Europe and North America, and that's the systemic bias it would be great to contest, for exmaple by making articles on Ethiopian ministers and state ministers, but only if they are notable.

@SeanyWiki To add images to a wikipedia article, you need to know the copyright status and thus whether it can be uploaded or not. The process to follow is outlined at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard . It's a bit confusing, but photos are uploaded to wikicommons and then linked from there. Happy editing! Running from October 1 to 31, 2026, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films or organizations created by women) during the event period — and this time, we are extending our focus to encourage more Did You Know (DYK) submissions spotlighting new GA articles about women and women's works. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by the event's end. Hello, my question is not about editing per se but I wanted to know how to take a particular source as authentic in a specific case. I'm talking about the cult classification section for this page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sahaja_Yoga . Where the French psychiatrist Jean-Marie Abgrall (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean-Marie_Abgrall) is quoted directly but two things stand out to me 1. He himself has promoted pseudo-scientific theories of brainwashing etc which you can check on his own wikipedia page and 2. The book which is taken as a citation itself cites a magazine series of the cult as a source but does not mention which year, which issue to verify anything.

Hi @LRSRUC are we talking Scotland's Rural College? I would upload the new logo here on wikipedia (not to wikicommons) as a non-free file - Wikipedia:File_upload_wizard. Then add it to the page, I think the conflict of interest is not too bad for a logo change. But any more edits to SRUC should be via Wikipedia:Edit requests.
