Review of Republic of Upper Canada
[edit]Hi Moxy, I saw the other day that you were going to submit this page for review after all the edits I had done. I was curious to know if that would be through the assessment process of WikiProject Canada or the regular peer review system on Wikipedia? Should I bother with the latter if you might already be taking a look?
Also, sorry if I overdid it with the volume of edits on that page. UAmtoj (talk) 02:50, 24 March 2026 (UTC)
Reasons for reversion?
[edit]Hello @Moxy
I remember adding an edit, only for it to be reverted by you under the reasonings that it wasn't the official website. What I do find a problem though is that it does seem official, which I don't get the removal. Is it possible for you to explain it to me if possible?
Sincerely, GuesanLoyalist

- You will note we simply don't add the government website to any country article infobox because the articles are not about the government as a whole but a nation. It would be more than appropriate to add it to the government of article infobox - example Canada vs Government of Canada. That said the website for the government would normally be listed in the external links section along with some other official links to the tourist site or whatever see Canada#External links. Moxy🍁 05:47, 29 March 2026 (UTC)
What are you referring?
[edit]Just curious. Jollyrime (talk) 01:09, 31 March 2026 (UTC)
- This is something that you have brought up on the talk page and people will discuss with you. Let's make sure you're reviewing the sources properly and presenting a case that will actually gain consensus by the community. Just the first sentence will dig this into the ground. Let's make sure we're reporting correctly.
According to a March 2026 report by Bright Line Watch, a non-partisan democracy-tracking project which routinely surveys hundreds of American scholars on political regimes, there is a "near-unanimous" consensus that the modern GOP is an authoritarian this is factually incorrect
- .... How so you ask... The report is highlighting democratic backsliding referencing a hybrid state coined by Steven Levitsky and Lucan Way called competitive authoritarianism.....an introductory overview is available here.
- So what is Levitsky saying... Levitsky proposes a middle ground. “This is authoritarianism on the one hand,” he says, “but it’s an authoritarianism that can be reversed—and I think likely will be reversed.” arguing that the United States has entered a phase of “competitive authoritarianism,” Moxy🍁 01:27, 31 March 2026 (UTC)

I would like to ask you something
[edit]Hi, I wanted to ask if the Political violence in Canada (1918–1938) should be recreated in a proper article as "War Measures and the Repression of Radicalism period" (The title you suggested in the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Political violence in Canada (1918–1938)) or if it should just be a section under Canada in the world wars and interwar period. I would like to hear your input so that I don't repeat my mistake Lazarbeem (talk) 15:17, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
- Yes an article with WP:Prose for "War Measures and the Repression of Radicalism period" is easily sourced ...but as of now Political violence in Canada (1918–1938) is just a random list. Moxy🍁 15:26, 17 April 2026 (UTC)

Your mass reversion to Indigenous peoples in Canada
[edit]Could you please refrain from mass reversions like that? Speedy deletion nomination of Wikipedia:COUNTRYGALLERIE
[edit]
A tag has been placed on Wikipedia:COUNTRYGALLERIE requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Correction request
[edit]Hello.
In the article Democracy-Dictatorship Index, the map File:DD classification 2008 dataset Cheibub visualized hanteng en.png depicts South Africa and Namibia as a "civilian dictatorship", Botswana and Tanzania as a "military dictatorship", and Venezuela as a "presidential democracy" in 2008, when the former three were presidential democracies (and still are), Tanzania an illiberal presidential democracy (and still is) and Venezuela a civilian dictatorship (and still is) at that time. This mistake is also mentioned in Talk:Democracy-Dictatorship Index. The map needs to be corrected by coloring South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Tanzania in dark blue (diluted as Tanzania's is) and Venezuela in orange. Likewise, in the map File:DD classification 1988 dataset Cheibub visualized hanteng en.png, Communist Poland is depicted as a "military dictatorship" in 1988, when it was a civilian dictatorship. Poland was a military dictatorship during 1981-1983, when martial law was imposed. It became a civilian dictatorship again during 1983-1989. Article The Economist Democracy Index, including its map, provides a more accurate picture.
Yours sincerely, ~2026-36691-12 (talk) 16:38, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

About your most recent edit at WikiProject Politics
[edit]Hi @Moxy. I noticed your comment about the Hybrid regime AfD discussion, and just wanted to let you know that if you'd ever like eyes on something, you're welcome to leave a note on my talk page. You certainly won't have to worry about canvassing because, if our record of interactions are indicative of anything, it's that there's very little chance we share significant overlapping views on anything on here other than wanting what's best for the website.
Unfortunately Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Politics typically gets buried in my watchlist feed, and it's usually so barren over there that I don't even bother checking it in the first place. I suspect there are many other users who feel similarly. I think the spirit of WP:CANVASS is largely to avoid users ganging up on those who disagree with them, rather than to block what can actually be quite an effective means of generating fruitful discussion. I'll see what I can do over at Articles for deletion, but hope you'll consider my thoughts in the meantime. Think we could all stand to have a few more friends on here, or at least recognize those we have as such more often. All the best, CSGinger14 (talk) 03:55, 11 July 2026 (UTC)

[edit]Hey, I see you removed the promolike line about the rankings of Oxford & Cambridge from the lead of England. While I agree the lead is better with this sentence removed, I see no harm in this point being in the main body. Hello there
[edit]Hi Moxy.
In this edit, when you say "we'll work on the successive lazy copy pasting tomorrow or so", are you referring to my work? If not, feel free to ignore the following.
Sorry to be a whiny bitch about this, but I am yet again disappointed by the obvious lack of civility from highly experienced editors. I put a lot of effort into many of the articles I copied from, and as you can see, it was over a period of over 2 hours that I tried to select and adjust the appropriate parts to copy into that article. I was concerned myself that the result might already be too long, and it was something I was going to look into. But this edit summary is just so goddamn annoying, it's like some of you long-time editors just truly don't even want any good new editors who put in a genuine effort, and for the pool of volunteers to just ossify and die out. You could have written me on my talk page, or on the article's talk page, "hey, good effort, but it seems too long right now, and I have X Y Z concerns with copy pasting. Could we collaborate on this?". Or even something significantly less civil and kind and cooperative than that, but at least not the toxic option you did opt for. That all being said, I would still be more than happy to have help with the overall structure of this article at large, and the section in question in particular, since I think that there is a lot of work to be done.
Yours tiredly, غوّاص العلم (Ghawwas) (talk) 09:39, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
How does this look?
[edit]Hi Moxy,
I’ve always been bugged by the use of the UK legislation infobox for Canadian constitutional enactments. I took a crack at creating a new infobox, using the general legislation infobox. Copy attached, for the CA 1867.
What do you think?
I could easily use the same format for other constitutional enactments
The one thing I wonder about is using your government logo, since it’s got the coat of arms in it. Given the fights over the past year, and your position about not using the CofA, is there a problem with that logo? Unlike the suggestion to use the CoA in other Canadian articles, this one is greatly reduced and is only in red and white. Is that enough to distinguish the use of the small CoA here?
Comments greatly welcomed! Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 22:29, 28 July 2026 (UTC)

Indigenous names, for the 100th time
[edit]I see you've found our new friend. I'm thinking maybe we need an essay for how to approach inclusion of Indigenous names on Canadian geography articles... We seem to have come to a general consensus by now that other names don't belong in the lead or infobox, except French names in some circumstances, and the rest can be included in the body under "Etymology" or something... It just gets tiring explaining that over and over. Do you want to take a shot at throwing something together? MediaKyle (talk) 14:06, 30 July 2026 (UTC)

Graphic consistency

I was wondering if you would be able to update/change the graphic you designed for Disability in Canada. As it is the disability pride flag superimposed onto the Canadian maple leaf, I wonder if it could be improved by matching the graphic you did for LGBTQ rights in Canada (that is, a white border around the flag).

- So you're now saying I'm using AI? I'm sorry but I can't just let all the work I put into this go to waste. I spent hours working on these improvements, and I really don't want to see all of it undone. Please tell me which parts of my edit you think are problematic so I can fix those specific sections. Reverting the entire thing really doesn't seem fair, especially since I made so many improvements to the article. Er-gg1ab (talk) 14:21, 2 September 2026 (UTC)

I'm going to go ahead with my edit on the Islam article since I'm 100% sure that I didn't use any type of AI tool with that one, you can check it. I'm going to entirely remove the problematic image gallery that you told me to remove, following your guidance. Just one thing: It's all should be good now, please for the love of all that is holy, don't revert it cuz if you do, the moment that happens I'm going to delete my account and leave this shity place once and for all, I'm fed up. Articles SAE J444 and SAE J445
[edit]Hello Moxy, my name is Skranon and I am from the german wikipedia. We in the geman wikipedia had a discussion about the german versions of the articles SAE J445 and SAE J444. Both articles were translations of the english versions. According to Pangram, SAE J445 and SAE J444 are 100% ai-generated. The references in both articles that I could check don't substantiate the article. The person (User:Gutenbergman) who translated these articles to other languages took the references without to check them. The spanish and polish wikipedia already deleted them.
A few days earlier I proposed both english articles for deletion and also tagged both with the ai template, but the Translator (User:Gutenbergman) deleted both templates and proposals. Can you please take this over from me?, because I don't know what the next steps are. Skranon (talk) 20:43, 2 September 2026 (UTC)

Today I have two topics in the OTD corner - check out story and music, I decided for Verdi (the conductor who said "I love all of Verdi" and conducted by heart) over Bach because that cantata sits on sort of the wrong date ;) -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:03, 22 September 2026 (UTC)
Bach composed a cantata for today's feast, performed 300 years ago. This time the main page has it on the right date. I nominated it for GA ;) - Also waiting for a review: Maureen Jones (on WP:ITNN), - someone said the article isn't good enough for the main page. We could change that! Already arrived there: Bryan Kelly and his fun Magnificat. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:58, 29 September 2026 (UTC)

Reverting my updates in Japan and Canada
[edit]What's wrong with the details we add to the Japan and Canada articles about Global Innovation Index? this is not the first time this information is being reverted although it's not vitalization. If you have any recommendations for this addition to survive, please advise. Mervat (talk) 17:30, 5 October 2026 (UTC)
- There are a multitude of indexes/surveys. In country articles (that are main overview summary articles) we go out of our way to make sure that it's not a listing of random non contextual information as explain at WP:COUNTRYSECTIONS. For decades since Wikipedia started we have tried to go out of our way not to list random indexes with no context. What we are looking for is information linking to main articles on the country itself..... over listing random statistics articles. Almost every country article has its own SUB ARTICLE for indexes and surveys like International rankings of Canada that can list the multitude of surveys... Or like you have done I have these types of surveys to the specific topics of a country article like economics.. In this specific example there are many economic indexes and surveys with no reason to put underweight on this one specific index that may be outdated within 12 months..... Instead an overall narrative should be produced by multiple sources (an academic analysis of the multitude of indexes the surveys on a specific topic).... that link to an article about surveys and indexes. Over the decades we have been dealing with everyone adding their favorite index to every country article.....ranging from economics, social indicators, forestry, water levels, climate change etc. This leads to random statistics that we consider WP: main article fixation. To be blunt....we are looking for academic analysis covered by sources over random statistics that may or not be contradicted by other random statistics/indexes. A great thing that is needed is an update for all the articles at Category:International rankings by country. I'm hoping this explains things and why a multitude of people have reverted or remove these additions. Moxy🍁 17:49, 5 October 2026 (UTC)
Coat of arms
[edit]Hi Moxy, I have reverted most of your additions of the pre-1994 arms of Canada, although happy to discuss here if you wish. I am aware of your dislike of Sodacan's image but I do not feel that replacing it with an uncoloured photograph of a historic version of the arms is an improvement I'm afraid. Dgp4004 (talk) 16:40, 7 October 2026 (UTC)
- I was thinking that someone would not like the change.... Was trying to fix the fact that the colors are very misleading and clearly a massive copyright violation in Canada's point of view.. but oh well. I'm hoping adding the image to the Canada article and the crown article will help slow down the talks about adding misleading in copyrighted image at least in those two articles. Yes I understand that Wikipedia is hosted in the United States and doesn't care about Canadian copyright. Moxy🍁 16:43, 7 October 2026 (UTC)

[edit]Hello Moxy, first of all, thank you for your contributions to Portugal and for your very kind recognition of the work on the article. I'm posting here to ask whether you might have some time and interest to review it.
