GOCE October blitz

[edit]

Hi Max Lorax—Thanks much for your contributions to the GOCE's October blitz. As a reviewer for this drive, I checked your copyedits to the article Mostransavto. The article was definitely improved, especially its overall tone and precision. Some things caught my eye that would be ideal to adjust, so I touched up the article a bit afterward. In case any feedback would be helpful for a future drive or blitz, a list of some interesting fixes is given below. Thanks again for your copyediting, and I look forward to seeing you in a future drive or blitz.—Pac Veten

  • For clarity, "arrived" can follow the full bus description in "a large batch of Israeli Haargaz buses on a Mercedes-Benz O303 chassis arrived to serve intercity routes".
  • The phrase "reached the end of its service life" is a standard way to describe the end of a machine's operating period.
  • To clarify the 2022 rehabilitation, I extended the lead-in sentence before the long quotation. Also, I formatted this quotation as a blockquote, as recommended in Wikipedia's Manual of Style (MOS).
  • For describing the two bus deliveries in 2022-2023, 'with' sounds more standard than 'being'.
  • For the auction notice, I moved the verb before the long quotation for ease of reading.
  • The past tense of 'plan' is spelled 'planned' in both British and American English.
  • MOS recommends spelling out abbreviations on first use. An example would be "joint-stock company (JSC)". In the caption for for the photo of a LiAZ-4292.60, what does 'EMU' stand for?

Ah, those do make more sense. Thank you for the feedback. I'll make sure to look for these and similar things in the future. MaxLorax (talk) 17:54, 22 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

{{When}}

[edit]

Just so you know, we typically use {{When}} if the prose references an event but makes the time unclear, example:

Before[when?] Bob took over the world, he ate the biggest pizza ever. In solidarity, Grilledcheeseisgreat ✉ 04:02, 26 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

And also, I too support bringing back ðe great letter Þorn. And remember, ðere is a difference between Þorn and eð. Þorn is unvoiced, like in Þick (thick); eð is voiced, like in ðat (that). In solidarity, Grilledcheeseisgreat ✉ 04:07, 26 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, boþ of ðem are great. Ðough, in Old and Middle English, ðey actually were interchangeable phonetically, representing ðe /θ/ allophone (eiðer ðe voiced or unvoiced version). Ðere were some differences as to where ðey were used, but, in English, ðey functioned ðe same. MaxLorax (talk) 04:21, 26 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Ðe evil printing press ruined the spelling of English. CURSE YOU GUTENBURG! In solidarity, Grilledcheeseisgreat ✉ 04:27, 26 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Also, I have created a page at User:Grilledcheeseisgreat/EME Club which is written in the best tongue in the land. In EME, not Þorn or eð unfortunately. In solidarity, Grilledcheeseisgreat ✉ 04:28, 26 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
