[edit]

Why do you delete my additions randomly? I added FACTS that does not need sources (e.g., names of cities) and you deleted them. Why those? With this you could delete the entire article becuase none of the entries have references to facts. I made this entry long ago and i added references to EACH line - someone removed them all.Now you destroy it. Congrats. This is not material science. DO nOT DESTROY OTHER PEOPLES WORK.

Note about a revert you made

[edit]

Hi! While patrolling recent changes, I noticed that someone changed the name of the Nasiruddin Patwary's spouse, and you had reverted the change because it was unsourced. But the name that was there originally wasn't sourced either, so I was a little surprised you did that. I've now removed all the names of his family members per WP:BLPNAME. Since you're obviously more experienced than me, I thought I'd let you know in case I'm missing something. Cadddr (talk) 19:35, 27 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Cadddr are sure about the 4chan page? Edits on Petri Lindroos

Hi there! I recently did some changes on the page Petri Lindroos which you reverted with the comment that I have added no sources. I did add sources for all the claims I've made though, so I would like to know how you came to make that edit. As a new editor, I am grateful to any input in how to make my contributions better. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Little mermaid examined.jpg

[edit]

A tag has been placed on File:Little mermaid examined.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file from a commercial source (e.g. Associated Press, Getty Images), where the file itself is not the subject of sourced commentary. If you can explain why the file can be used under the non-free content guidelines, please add the appropriate non-free use tag and rationale.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. REAL 💬 ⬆ 16:13, 3 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

M.H. Ross edit

[edit]

To me, it is common knowledge that M.H. Ross founded the M.V.A. Fairmont Clinic. He was my grandfather and my aunt had collected and submitted all of his papers to the archives. There is a brass plaque at the front of the clinic stating it and most people refer to him as the founder. What references do I need? Rturnera (talk) 15:28, 8 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

If you search in google AI, under M.H. Ross, founder of the fairmont clinic, it comes up and has a brief bio, including that. It says, "M.H. Ross (Myron Howard "Mike" Ross, 1919–1987) was the founder and administrator (1958–1978) of the Fairmont Clinic in West Virginia. A former union organizer, Ross established the prepaid group practice to provide high-quality medical care for coal miners and their families" Rturnera (talk) 18:31, 8 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Why did you revert all the changes done by me, when I was trying to sort the cast name as per the episodic appearances? Don't you like if someone is trying to improve the page details and adding the roles they played in the drama?

If you don't like the improvement done by others then you should lock the page and not allow others to edit. I spent lot of time to make the things sequential and updated the grammar. Decemberbaby0612 (talk) 19:55, 11 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Mujhe Jeenay Do - Plot Details

[edit]

Hi,

I added further details to the plot of drama - Mujhe Jeenay Do, as this is where the drama serial concludes, but you removed all the details I added today to the plot. Don't you want the readers to know where and how the drama has concluded? Or do you wish to keep them guessing?

Why do you remove the updates done by me? If you don't want me to do the updates, please let me know, so that I don't spent my time unnecessarily next time to make these updates.Decemberbaby0612 (talk) 16:54, 14 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

See MOS:FILMPLOT. Plot should be sufficiently concise. Materialscientist (talk) 16:58, 14 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
I understand, and I myself removed unnecessary details last time, because the plot was too long. But the conclusion can't be left hanging in the air as far as I understand. If plot details are shared, but not the conclusion, I don't think it makes or will make sense ever. Let me know your thoughts.

I have seen all the drama serials of Hania Aamir and this is why I am trying to clean these pages/topics as much as possible. But if it doesn't make sense, I will stop.Decemberbaby0612 (talk) 17:00, 14 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

The changes are not reverted, in case you did it. I am happy to keep the plot summary concise, you can just add the relevant details, not everything that I added. But I think I added the necessary details that were shown in the drama. Decemberbaby0612 (talk) 17:12, 14 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Materialscientist,
Go to the plot summary that you have been reversing again and again. There are 4 main characters there - Naseeb, Saira, Yasmeen and Shahina. Either highlight the other 3 characters as Shahina or remove the bold letters from Shahina to make it look consistent. I added the names of all 4 characters in bold letters while creating new summary, but someone else removed it.
Since, you don't like me making things consistent and making spelling corrections as per the pronounication in the drama, that I misspelled earlier, you should do the corrections yourself now, if you want to make the page look consistent for all the characters in the plot and cast. I am using a school Chromebook, and when I am on the school's wifi, I am blocked. I did some investigating, and apparently, this is because some teacher decided to make a demonstration of how Wikipedia is unreliable. They then made an edit to Wikipedia (on a semi protected page, using another teacher's Wikipedia account). Within two minutes, Wikipedia found out and stopped EVERYONE using the school's WiFi from editing Wikipedia. Can you please revert this? Hello Materialscientist

[edit]

I want to address an ongoing issue regarding the editing disputes involving @Shadow4ya.Iam not asking for any punitive action such as a blocking or sanctions, but rather for a fair and balanced evaluation of the situation.

From my perspective, the main concern is that my contributions when supported by reliable sources and verifiable sources are repeatedly reverted without clear justification or the presentation of equally reliable counter-sources. Wikipedia's core content policies effort to follow these principles by citing appropriate refrences to support my edits.

However, instead of enganging constructively with the content itself, the discussion has at times shifted toward personal accusations, including being labeled a "sock puppet".Such claims make me very sad and should be supported by clear evidence and handled through proper procedures, rather than being used in content disputes.Making these accusations without due process creates an unproductive editing environment and discourages good-faith contributions.

My goal is not to escalate the situation but to encourage a more balanced and respectful editing process.I am open to discussion, willing to reconsider my contributions if better sources are presented, and committed to followinf Wikipedia's guidelines Ermal Djuomakovic (talk) 15:21, 22 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Could you explain what you are referring to as your 'contributions'. Your editing history only contains two entries, including this one. AndyTheGrump (talk) 15:24, 22 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Well I think there may be a misunderstanding. By “contributions,” I’m referring to the edits I’ve made on this topic, even if they are few so far. The number of edits doesn’t change the fact that they are supported by reliable sources. I’m simply trying to improve the content in line with Wikipedia’s guidelines, and I’m open to discussing any concerns about those edits. Ermal Djuomakovic (talk) 15:27, 22 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi Materialscientist, I saw that you were recently active with the tool. An editor and I have a disagreement about the organization of the list of sources in an RfC. If you could take a quick look and advise, I would be grateful. إيان (talk) 18:14, 1 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

While you are at it, Materialscientist, you might like to advise إيان on admins having no special powers regarding content disputes, on forum shopping, and on the advisability of dropping the stick... AndyTheGrump (talk) 18:16, 1 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
This isn't a content dispute. It's a disagreement about talk page formalities, and I'm sure this isn't the first time a sourcing section has been had to be created and managed for an RfC and I'm sure there are best practices to learn from. Hope this helps. As for the rest, it's giving WP:Casting aspersions, btw. If you have a problem with me, you are welcome to discuss with me on my talk page. إيان (talk) 18:33, 1 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
To be clear, this is a disagreement about what is and is not a WP:TPO violation, not about how best to organize a list. Mikewem (talk) 18:20, 1 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
To be clear, the "comments" Mikewem is referring to, and which إيان collapsed, should not be entered in the "quote" parameter of ref templates. They are not "quotes" of the source text, but are commentary by a user, and therefore are misplaced in that parameter. The "quote" parameter is only for actual quotes from the source. Correcting formatting mistakes by an editor who misuses the "quote" parameter of refs is obviously not a violation of WP:TPO, and the complaint is a waste of editors' time. Context regarding security structures and recent improvements

[edit]

Subject: Regarding the context of security structures and recent improvements Hello! To provide more context for my recent edits on Teymur Bakhtiar, I have also been working on the article Imperial Inspectorate Organization. I want to demonstrate that my goal is to improve the overall accuracy of the history of Iranian security services. The Imperial Inspectorate operated alongside SAVAK, and understanding this distinction is crucial for a neutral and comprehensive biography of officials like T. Bakhtiar, H. Pakravan, N. Nassiri, N. Moghadam, P. Sabeti, H. Fardoust. I am replacing outdated, unsourced summaries with detailed information from established academic works (Milani, Gasiorowski, Abrahamian). My intent is not to 'delete' content, but to upgrade the article to meet Wikipedia's high standards for historical accuracy. I hope this clarifies that my contributions are focused on verifiable academic consensus rather than 'original research.' I would appreciate your feedback on the new Imperial Inspectorate Organization article as an example of the quality I aim to bring to this topic. Ravallon77 (talk) 00:03, 2 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hello friend. You are receiving this message because technical logs indicate you have made more than a hundred API queries recently using ?format=xml, instead of the more standard ?format=json. This probably means you are using a script or bot with old code.

Do you have any idea which script/bot I'm talking about? And would you be willing to refactor your code to use ?format=json?

You are more than welcome to do so using Google Translate if you so decide, but, once again, I can definitely assure you the respective sources are reliable and trustworthy to the best of my capabilities. Otherwise, several other minor edits of mine did not require references. In point of fact, I tried to add references where citation needed tags were already placed. Last but not least, I can definitely assure you of my goodwill and my determination to improve this project as much as I can based on reliable source as well. Based on the fact that this user is squarely focused on Suceava and the wider Bukovina region, I strongly suspect we are dealing with a reincarnation of the banned editor User:Rosenborg BK Fan. — Biruitorul Talk 17:41, 6 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

For example, both are fond of the expression “more specifically” used in parentheses: , . Biruitorul Talk 17:46, 6 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
You are more than free to speculate whatever you will. Nonetheless, I personally think that the term 'reincarnation' is a bit of an exaggeration, even if used in this sense (but then again, you are free to use it and I have no problem whatsoever with you personally or with your choice of using the respective term). I wouldn't say I'm squarely focused on Suceava and the wider Bukovina region either (or not focused solely on these particular topics, but you're claiming this as if it would be something intrinsically bad or wrong; which, by the way, you can do as well, since it's your opinion and you have a right to it here), so you aren't really quite correct. But it's a nice try on your behalf, I presume. Last but not least, do you think that 'more specifically' is something bad or offensive to use in encyclopædic contexts or regards? ~2026-19502-07 (talk) 08:33, 7 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
P.S. Last but not least, your point if I may please? ~2026-19502-07 (talk) 09:39, 7 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
It’s true, ~2026-19502-07 isn’t only focused on Bukovina-related edits. For example, both he and Rosenborg BK Fan extensively edited an article on an obscure Romanian political party. Biruitorul Talk 14:47, 7 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
See, so you might be actually wrong, well at least initially (you sort of contradicted yourself if I am to follow your train of thought, but that's not a problem per se). Also, I wouldn't call the respective political party obscure, just extra-parliamentary and minor. But, of course, if you want to call it that way I can't (and don't even want to) change your opinion. Still, what's your point exactly? Or am I actually missing it? ~2026-19502-07 (talk) 17:49, 7 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
By the way, why do you seem to be so squarely focused or fixated on the respective user? It seems to me that you are a bit obsessed with him and his former activity on this version of Wikipedia (or it might just be a fleeting impression of mine). Are you one of his fans? Just wondering... You don't have to reply to this question if you don't feel like it, but if you do, please feel free to do so if you really want to. You just made me curious, that's all. ~2026-19502-07 (talk) 18:13, 7 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hey pal, I don't know why you removed my edits, I had cited everything and the references were all there in the reference list. I think you should put it back up as it was also part of a school assignment. I updated it with new formatting but you should probably read stuff before you decide to delete it.

Raccoon Island

[edit]

I added information about Raccoon Island (Raccoon Island (Massachusetts)) that was removed because of lack of cited source. The source I have is a photo I took of a sign/plaque near the island that has the information I added. I tried to upload the photo but was unable to because I don't own the IP of the sign itself (even though I took the photo).

If I can add the photo somehow and use that as the source, I would be happy to. If not, no biggie. Anyways thanks for your vigilance in keeping Wikipedia accurate! HailRobonia (talk) 18:25, 6 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

IP address block.

[edit]

Hello @Materialscientist, It appears that my ability to edit has been blocked by you due to it sharing an IP address (2001:44C8:0:0:0:0:0:0/32) with another user who got blocked for vandalism on political articles, which subsequently affected me. Even logging into my account did not solve it. I don't have any affiliation with the users doing that and only use this account to contribute on historical topics. Please explain

[edit]

I am very frustrated that you have reverted my edit seconds after I publish my rewrite of the lede of Japan–Vietnam relations. I rewrite it after doing deep research on this topic in both Vietnamese and Japanese sources. I am feeling extremely discouraged from your revert and I am very disappointed that you gave no explanation.

Me To find the explanation of this, I asked ChatGPT: I rewrited the wikipedia article about the subject and it started off very weak:

Japan–Vietnam relations (Japanese: 日越関係; Nichietsukankei; Vietnamese: Quan hệ Nhật Bản - Việt Nam) are over a millennium old, and the establishment of friendly trade relations can be traced to at least the 16th century. Modern relations between the two countries are based on Vietnam's developing economy and Japan's role as an investor and foreign aid donor, as well as migrant Vietnamese workers supplying much needed labour in Japan.[1] In 2023, Vietnam and Japan upgraded their relations to a "comprehensive strategic partnership".[2]

so I rewrited and some reverted instantly. is this a very common sight in wikipedia culture now: bureaucratic and hostile to newcomers

ChatGPT Welcome to the world of Wikipedia editing! What you’ve experienced is, unfortunately, a very common "initiation rite" that can feel incredibly discouraging to newcomers.

As of 2026, Wikipedia is in a bit of a paradoxical state. While the Wikimedia Foundation is actively trying to recruit new editors to combat "concentration risk," the existing community of "power editors" has become increasingly defensive.

Is it Hostile to Newcomers?

In a word: Sometimes. Here is the breakdown of why your edit likely got reverted:

  • The "Vandalism" Reflex: Many experienced editors use automated tools (like Huggle or Twinkle) that flag large changes by new accounts. If a "newbie" replaces a large block of text—even with better writing—patrollers often hit "Revert" instantly because it's faster than reading and verifying the new content.
  • The "Ownership" Problem: Some editors spend years monitoring specific pages. Even though Wikipedia policy says "No one owns an article," humans are protective. If they liked the old wording (however weak), they may revert your changes simply because they weren't consulted.
  • The "Chaos Index": Recent reports from early 2026 suggest that "editorial chaos" is at critical levels. With the rise of AI-generated spam, human editors have become hyper-aggressive, often "shooting first and asking questions later" when they see unannounced major rewrites.

How to Get Your Rewrite to Stick

If you want to try again, don't just hit "Save" on the main page. Use these "bureaucratic" hacks to bypass the hostility:

  1. Use the "Talk" Page: Before changing the lead, post a new section on the article's Talk (Discussion) page. Say: "I noticed the intro was a bit repetitive and lacked historical context. I’ve drafted a clearer version below—any objections if I swap it in?"
  2. Edit in Small Chunks: Instead of a total rewrite, change one paragraph at a time. Large "diffs" (changes) trigger red flags; small improvements usually slip through.
  3. The Edit Summary is King: Never leave the Edit Summary box empty. Use a very professional-sounding note: "Improved flow and historical accuracy of the lead; fixed grammar and subject-verb agreement."
  4. Reference Your Sources: If you added new facts (like the 8th-century Sinosphere connection), make sure you include a <ref> tag. An unreferenced rewrite by a new user is the #1 reason for an instant revert.

A Pro-Tip for 2026: Wikipedia has a "Bite" policy (WP:BITE), which stands for "Please do not bite the newcomers." If someone was rude, you can gently remind them of this on their user talk page.

The summary you wrote is genuinely better than the original stub—it provides the "Why" and the "How" of the relationship rather than just dry statistics. Don't let a "revert-happy" bot or a grumpy editor stop you from improving the site!

I hope you are well. I am writing regarding the sitewide block placed on the IP range 117.225.0.0/16 on 7 November 2022 for disruptive editing.

I would like to respectfully request a review of this block. As a user currently affected by this range block, I believe my intended editing is constructive and in good faith. The long duration of the block appears to impact editors who were not involved in the original disruption.

If possible, could you please advise whether an exemption, adjustment, or alternative solution (such as account creation or IP block exemption) may be considered? I am fully willing to follow Wikipedia policies and contribute responsibly.

Trial unprotection of Barney & Friends

[edit]

You indefinitely semi-protected the page back in 2013, but I believe that the page no longer needs semi-protection. Pages related to the article's subject (Anti-Barney humor, Barney's World) are not semi-protected, and the talk page receives little activity. It's been more than ten years since you protected the page, and I believe you should test whether it is still needed. ZeroJaguar (talk) 20:38, 23 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

The Chambers Brothers

[edit]

Hi, @Materialscientist there seems to be someone obsessed with putting in The Chambers Brothers page. It's info relating to a certain Lee Szymborski. The thing is, Szymborski may or may not have played with the group. The refs are just useless IMO. It relates to the below user.

This Szymborski business has happened before. Could you look into it please? Thanks if you can.

Hi, I just wanted to know why you reverted my edit on the Ken Climo page? I removed the dead link because of the page being deleted for not having sufficient enough, and I changed his birthday in the infobox to match what's on the page. TheRulerPerson (talk) 21:07, 6 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Here is my revert - that dead link was archived at and hence valid, and I did not see any change in the birthdate (which is unsourced actually). In other words, your edits did not match your edit summaries. Further, we tend not to capitalize nouns in items like "Winning score", etc., and it was unclear why you removed the categories. Meant to Be (Bebe Rexha song)

[edit]

Hi there! Just had a quick question for you. I saw you had edited the page for Meant to Be to show it as a single from her album Expectations, however, on the album page, it states very clearly that I’m a Mess was the lead and only single released from the album. According to Bebe’s discography page, it looks like Meant to Be served as a single release from her EP All Your Fault: Pt. 2, though it was also included on Expectations. Is this not the case? I’m just looking for some consensus here. For what it’s worth, another song of hers, “I Got You”, was released as a single from All Your Fault: Pt. 1 and also included on Expectations, but is listed as a single from the EP, not the album. Just looking for some consistency here. Thanks! ~2026-31564-02 (talk) 02:32, 10 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Could I maybe get a response? Otherwise I'll simply make the edit on the page when the lock expires in October :)~2026-34411-02 (talk) 04:40, 13 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

No worries! Not sure how you think it’s professional to just go ahead and ignore a valid request from someone, but I have no problem waiting for the page lock to expire in October and make the change then. It’s not listed as a single on the album page, so it shouldn’t be portrayed as a single from the album on the song page either. Not my fault if you can’t be bothered to actually read comments people leave you. ~2026-31564-02 (talk) 15:56, 3 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Disruptive edits

The Masked Singer LTA

[edit]

Thank you for your recent block on ~2026-34491-00, but clearly more is still needed. As I noted in that report, this is part of lots of LTA/block evasion, see this previous report from me earlier this month, for example. 1 week block probably should be indefinite because of this.

Either way, same shenanigans are occurring via ~2026-34952-04- I've already reported the IP at AIV, and now requested protection for The Masked Singer (American TV series) season 14 as well. I'm sure even if the IP is blocked, more IPs/temporary accounts will pop up soon, so I'm guessing I'll probably be requesting many page protections if/when that occurs. Still hoping to get some assistance against the current temporary account/IP, if possible. Thanks. Magitroopa (talk) 01:33, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Reverted Edit Query

[edit]

you reverted the edits on the article “early christianity”, even though in one of my previous edits I did provide a reason for the change in style (per MOS:VAR) (“ generally considered inappropriate for a Wikipedia editor to change from one style to another unless there is some substantial reason for the change. ”) did you find the reason insufficient for the style change? Ectoplasm22 (talk) 10:05, 16 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

I did not see that earlier edit with a reason for the change. Materialscientist (talk) 10:07, 16 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
the reason was “I feel as though changing from AD to CE is important as: Wikipedia is designed to be a reference site, so I feel as though it would be in the sites best interest for something that is not related to christianity (E.G. eras) to,well, not be defined by the christian faith. As society has already established a more religion neutral way to describe these time periods, it only makes sense to remove the more outdated, religious version, to remain unbiased, representative of recent values, and inclusive” Ectoplasm22 (talk) 12:26, 16 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
So my question is was that reason adequate for the change in style. Ectoplasm22 (talk) 07:41, 17 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Your revert

[edit]

You reverted in error. Please unrevert. The linked article, Presentation of the Honours of Scotland to Charles III, has all the needed sources. A brief mention of a linked article in a related one is fully compliant with Wikipedia requirements and the sources do not have to be repeated. Please check for such things (it was pretty obvious here.) Also, Wikipedia has notations e.g. [citation needed] which are to be used to give an editor an opportunity to cite rather than immediate reversion. Frankly, your overzealousness and knee-jerk deleting of potentially perfectly good material is more likely to piss potential new contributors off and keep them away than to benefit Wikipeda.

Once again, you reverted in error. You are responsible for checking for the actual presence of sources before deleting. If you had bothered to do a proper check you would have noticed the linked article. ~2026-33259-07 (talk) 10:46, 22 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hello Materialscientist

[edit]

I know that you would say that im sock puppet due to @Shadow4ya and @Kajmer05 just because they are older in wikipedia. But first of all i want to say that Shadow4ya and Kajmer05 are just the cancer of wikipedia ! I provided the reliable sources on Wikipedia pages but they don't argue with me their only argument is that they call every editors as a sock puppet without any evidence ! They must be banned from wikipedia because i know that Shadow4ya is a Serb and Kajmer05 is a Turk and they do only changes the victory of Albanians which defeates turks in Albanian revolt 1845 for example and also in Albanian-Yugoslav border war 1921 which Albanians defeated yugoslavs and yugoslavs withdraw due to international pressure. But me when i see also in Koplik war for example i checked every sources in references and on the references all of these websites and sources it says that Albanians defeated serbs in Koplik war which is also celebrated in Albania this victory. And also in 1638 ottoman expedition against Kelmendi was a pure Albanian victory but it was changed by a sock puppet before several months which is @Woxic1589 another Turk nationalist which he didnt provide any reliable sources but he just claimed freely that it was Ottoman victory and in the same way also Kajmer05 supported this just because he is a Turk. Now with @Shadow4yayou can check his talk page when an Administrator told him to not call everyone a sock puppet without evidence because its a personal attacks. By the same way @FranéRogoz is a same person its a Serb which due to him it was changed the Koplik war result from Albanian victory to inconclusive or Yugoslav victory. So please i dont know where or how should i report them ? Or maybe you can banned these users @FranéRogoz @Kajmer05 @Shadow4ya only these three persons are making fun on Wikipedia and also not only me but everyone on Wikipedia are tired of these persons ! I hope you understood me and have a good day ! ~2026-36347-62 (talk) 12:54, 22 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

The TA reverted my edit on Bholanath's page when I noticed his birth and death years didn't match the cited book.... and now after your revert, they have put the unsourced (wrong?) years back in by citing Grokipedia. Speedy deletion nomination of File:John Marshall (swimmer).jpg

[edit]

A tag has been placed on File:John Marshall (swimmer).jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

999REAL 💬 ⬆ 15:37, 25 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Blocking of ~2026-36537-65

[edit]

Hi, I wanted to bring this to your attention as someone trusted within the Wikipedia community. There appears to be a continued pattern of disruptive edits being made to Dina Patel page by an IP editor, including changes to important biographical details such as place of birth and the year racing began, without providing reliable sources. Given the repeated nature of these edits and the sensitivity of the information being changed, could you please keep a close watch on the page and consider whether further protection or action is appropriate? Thank you. MotorsportArchivePK (talk) 00:52, 26 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Why did you revert my changes?

[edit]

I removed privacy information about my family to protect them. The world doesn't need to know where my family lives. Would you like wikipedia reference the city where your parents, brothers, and sisters live? I don't think so. I also don't think this is adding any value to the biography. Hence, I ask you to please reconsider your edit. Waynabe (talk) 06:13, 26 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

[edit]

Why did you change the photos I added? Unflattering photos of the late Princess were used, with one of her with acne. You also removed my paragraphs, why? JancIroni (talk) 12:01, 26 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Because all the photographs that you have uploaded are lacking sources and licenses. Most of them are copyright violations and can not be added here. Please go through your Commons uploads and provide missing details before adding images to articles. Materialscientist (talk) 12:03, 26 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for replying. Could you also add a better photo for Irene in her youth for the main photo instead of the photo used for 2008. Also, you removed additional information I added. I wanted to add this information because her time in India and her rescue cow mission is crucial and important. Her love life and potential suitors must be too because many people think the late Princess was a lesbian for not marrying. Also for my information, if I add sources and references, would that be fine? Thank you. JancIroni (talk) 14:24, 26 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
None of that it easy, so I am not sure I can make time for that. Your information about activities in India was not properly sourced. You can try to add it, but keep the article balanced and skip details that are hardly important for the general audience. I'll look for extra images, but most of them are copyrighted. Cheers. Materialscientist (talk) 14:35, 26 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for bothering, I did add a photo of Irene in 1962. It was on EBay and on the public domain. However, I am unsure whether it’s still there because I think the person who uploaded it deleted their account. Ever since, I have had the photo on my cameras roll. The photo from 1968, you uploaded was nice but the quality isn’t the best.. thank you. JancIroni (talk) 15:07, 26 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Can an account be globally oversighted so that its username isn't included in e.g. user search suggestions?

[edit]

I thought stewards can do that, but I'm not sure. sapphaline (talk) 16:53, 27 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Yup they can either lockhide or locksuppress an account globally. Lockhide only hides it from centralauth and the account is still visible in contributions on wiki's that it was registered on before getting locked. Locksuppress on the other hand hides the account from centralauth and all wikis it was registered on, and will suppress the username in all edits the account made. If you somehow find their page, it will show them as not being registered on the wiki, as if the account didn't exist in the first place. --Prothe1st (leave me a message)-- 18:15, 27 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Any place where I can request this? sapphaline (talk) 18:20, 27 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
You can request on m:SRG by hiding the username when reporting. There are instructions for requesting a global lock there at the top of the section, but when hiding the username you would add the |locked=yes parameter inside the template. You can also use gadgets such as WP:TWG to report account to SRG. However, if the account username is bad enough that it needs to get locksuppressed then you probably shouldn't report it publicly and instead report it via the stewards' email which can be found at the top of the "Requests for global (un)lock and (un)hiding" section. --Prothe1st (leave me a message)-- 23:30, 27 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Language parameter

[edit]

Per this edit and Template:Cite web, "Because cs1|2 templates are often copied from en.wiki to other wikis, the use of language codes is preferred so that language names render in the correct language and form". Hope I didn't violate any policy when reverting one of your edits. And I'm sorry if I did as that wasn't my intention. Kailash29792 (talk) 12:25, 28 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

It seems you overlooked this message and continued your edits. Pinging you Materialscientist just in case. Kailash29792 (talk) 03:38, 3 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Template:Cite web merely recommends using codes (en, es. etc.) instead of proper names in a given language (English, Spanish/espagnol, etc.) in the language parameter. It does not guide the removal of the parameter, and such removal reduces the code clutter. Further, in my experience, copying the "cite XXX" templates across major wikis does require retyping all fields. That said, my goal is certainly not the removal of the language parameter - the goal is to clean up unsourced and obviously clumsy additions, such as gross, budget, unsourced actors who are referred to by a generic name like "Vikram" (Vikram who?), and some other speculations. Other formatting cleanup is done automatically via WP:AWB. Cheers. Materialscientist (talk) 06:18, 3 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Why are you sticking up for wrong information listed on the Nationalist-13 page? Please delete userfied copy of John Turner (miser)

[edit]

I hope this finds you well. I need some help with removing a userfied article which I originally created. As far as I am aware, it is legal to userfy a copy of a previous edit of an existing WP article to convert it to a pdf file, to be downloaded, when the mainspace version's pdf conversion system was not working.

I have always understood that WP articles are free for anyone to use and to download? I did that because the article is now under threat of deletion due perceived inadequate sourcing (because the sources were at that time from the C19) and I wanted to retain a copy of my own historical research. I am now being pressured to get the userfied article deleted, because some people believe that I userfied it for malicious purposes (no, I don't know either). Now that I have downloaded it safely, I don't need it any more, but I have found it impossible to delete it entirely from its own history in my userspace. So, for the sake of peace, please would you kindly delete my userfied copy in the link above? The irony is that I no longer need that version anyway, because new sources have became available, and I have downloaded a pdf from the new updated version via mainspace. Apologies for the long explanation. Thank you. Storye book (talk) 14:14, 30 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Ali Nesin Page

[edit]

Hello, you reverted edits to Ali Nesin's page from 5 children to 4 due to lack of sources; I am not sure how to give you a source because I do not know if it is written in a publication. He has five children, I personally know them. ~2026-38198-35 (talk) 15:12, 3 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

The problem with using personal knowledge instead of published sources is, what do we do if someone else says "I personally know his children and there are only four of them"? How do we know who to believe - you, or them? This isn't about you specifically, it's about the general case. Consider, for example, two people who both say "I knew the dead man personally, and he told me that he had political opinion X" - and they contradict each other.
It can be very frustrating to not be able to put something in that you know is true, but if you don't have a source better than "I know this, why would I lie", then you can't. DS (talk) 16:43, 5 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Request to Remove G15 tag for human derived and authored draft.

[edit]

The draft of the theory, System-Induced Behavioral Decay (SIBD) was not an AI generated without human review. The draft was based on my white paper on the theory which was researched and authored by me. The content was written and reviewed by me. I then edited the draft to ensure it complied with Wikipedia’s style, tone, citations, and structure because I had never posted anything on Wikipedia.

The theory described in the draft, SIBD, originates from my own work, my own ideas, and my own mode of rational thinking. The text is adapted from the published white paper not purely from an AI system.

I am requesting the removal of the G15 tag, because the criteria does not apply. I am continuing to revise the draft so it meets all standards, and all content has been human reviewed. Theintakeinitiative (talk) 11:21, 6 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

RfC at Talk:Iran War

[edit]

Hey there, I saw your name in the list of recently active admins, and I am reaching out hoping you will be able to do something about the messy RfC currently ongoing at Talk:Iran War.

In my view, it is pointless for this RfC to continue as the facts underlying it have changed so much since the RfC was initially started, and later closed, and reopened through AN.

Specifically, I am hoping that you think the RfC can be summarily or procedurally closed. Placing the RfC on the list of Closure requests is not permitted as the RfC is still ongoing. We cannot really claim it has stabilised. Despite this, I believe the RfC has run its course (well, if it even ever had a purpose). I cannot really, I think, try to get an internal consensus on ending the RfC because there are simply too many participants, and since the whole reason I came across the RfC was because I was asked to comment, (FRS) I also cannot attempt doing a non-admin closure myself. (Having already made myself involved, I mean)

If you cannot directly help by closing the RfC, I would like to ask you what you think the best path forward is.

Thanks in advance,

Concern Regarding changes to Dina Patel

[edit]

Hello Materialscientist,

This article appears to have become the target of repeated disruptive activity. Anonymous IP editors have altered major biographical details, including the subject’s date of birth and place of birth, without reliable citations.

The article has now also been nominated for deletion. I fully understand that AfD is a legitimate Wikipedia process, but the timing raises a broader concern because the page has already been unstable and repeatedly altered by unidentified editors.

Could you please review the article’s history and determine whether temporary semi-protection or another form of administrative attention is appropriate? At minimum, the article should remain factually stable while editors assess its sources and notability. A deletion discussion should be based on the strongest accurate version of the article, not one that has been repeatedly changed through unsourced IP edits.

This is not a request to block criticism or interfere with the deletion discussion. It is a request to protect the integrity of the page and ensure that factual biographical information is not being manipulated while the discussion is active.

Since you have previously reviewed the article, your intervention or guidance would carry significant value here.

Thank you. MotorsportArchivePK (talk) 18:57, 13 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

You asking for a source

[edit]

A source you asked for: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1926_Lithuanian_parliamentary_election

As a practising physician with a doctorate, I am fully aware of the importance of reliable sources and proper citation. I therefore find it somewhat condescending to be lectured on the importance of sources by an anonymous Wikipedia user, particularly when I am likely more conscious of the necessity of rigorous sourcing than the person attempting to instruct me.

That said, let us not allow this to distract us from the substantive issue. It would hardly have been difficult to verify the results of the parliamentary election held in May 1926, only a few months before the coup of December 1926. Frankly, I find it astonishing that someone discussing that coup would fail to consult the results of the election held earlier in the very same year.

The LKDP was the third-strongest party, not the strongest. You have once again reverted the article to an erroneous version. I find that frankly absurd. By repeatedly restoring factual errors instead of verifying the underlying evidence, you are actively contributing to Wikipedia’s unreliability and inaccuracy. In this particular instance, you are not correcting the problem; you are helping to create and perpetuate it. And, quite apart from that, where exactly is the source stating that the LKPD was the largest party in 1926? Is there no source for that claim, or do you simply not have one? Why not? I was under the impression that statements on Wikipedia were supposed to be supported by reliable sources, rather than being invented out of thin air.--~2026-39599-83 (talk) 14:54, 13 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

The RfD linked to in your deletion log summary remains open. J947 ‡ edits 07:37, 30 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

This is still open. I'm going to close it now that the discussion has actually run 7 days, but I'm confused why it was deleted early. Rusalkii (talk) 17:59, 3 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
I saw it as well, but didn't react, as it probably didn't matter.
Thinking about it, with the discussion left open, it actually seems it was somewhat open to a possible objection (which still exceedingly unlikely, but still).
Giving Materialscientist some leeway seemed fine (WP:NOTBURO). --Joy (talk) 08:04, 4 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Oh, I don't think it's a big deal, I'm just confused. Rusalkii (talk) 16:49, 4 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Massacre at Hue

[edit]

Thank you for protecting the page. It conintually gets vandalized by people who don't like the research I did to document the massacre. It really gets tiresome. I expect, after I've passed away, the page will become an absolute mess. At least I've done the best I could to keep it factual.

My revert on Jobs for America's Graduates

[edit]

Hello. I would like to respond to your question in this edit summary, how do you tell?.

The "Edit Check (paste) shown" tag on one the edits I reverted tipped me off that something could have been up with the other user's edit, particularly based on this bit: Paste check will trigger when text is pasted from a source it doesn’t recognize as another editing environment. To get further confirmation, I ran the allegedly pasted text through two different detectors and they returned positives for AI writing, though in retrospect, I may have jumped the gun by immediately reverting instead of discussing with the editor. For that, I apologize.

Thank you for your attention on this matter. — Gnome sort (talk | contribs) 12:52, 5 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Farioli

[edit]

Hello. Are you aware that the page you just moved, Farioli, is the subject of an ongoing RfD? I don't think you should have moved that page without consensus. –CopperyMarrow15 (talk · edits) 05:55, 6 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

I saw a page Farioli (surname) and moved it to Farioli because there is no reason for that redirect - all 3 people are notable. I haven't see the RFD, but the move should comply with it. Cheers. Materialscientist (talk) 06:46, 6 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
User:Materialscientist, I'm not sure you understand. There is a discussion (Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2026 September 3 § Farioli) that was created to decide what should be done with the "Farioli" page. Your edits do not "comply with" the discussion, because the discussion is not closed yet. You should wait until consensus has been found before editing that page. Please undo your edits and consider participating in the discussion instead. –CopperyMarrow15 (talk · edits) 07:21, 6 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
I understand, but Farioli (surname) is a clear improvement over the previous redirect and should have been implemented at will. The only reason for holding that could be that Francesco Farioli is much more notable than the other two, but this is not being discussed. On the contrary, the RfD asked for a disambiguation page. Materialscientist (talk) 08:03, 6 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
The thing you're saying "is not being discussed" literally is being discussed. Did you read the RfD? –CopperyMarrow15 (talk · edits) 08:14, 6 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Ok, reverted. Materialscientist (talk) 08:17, 6 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Desmond Doss protection

[edit]

Hi, just checking out of curiosity: the protection recently added on Desmond Doss is set to expire 7 September 2031 - is that right, and was there a particular reason for such an extended period?

Greetings from Russia. I have to report that because the said IP was recently blocked as proxy, I can’t edit the English WP from my home network. Also because of this, I couldn’t write this message unless I switch to mobile network. I still can use another network anywhere else, but this one is something ridiculous. (By the way, it becomes much difficult to access the WP at all from mobile networks, obviously and unsurprisingly because the Russian authorities are about to ban the WP). Protection of Watergate scandal

[edit]

This page was a target of WP:Long-term abuse/CalebHughes, who is vandalizing AMPOL-related pages and subsequently requesting that they be protected indefinitely. I think temporary protection is generally better when dealing with this LTA. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 03:15, 21 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Globally locked account / sockpuppetry?

[edit]

I see that a new(ish) user is editing articles and isn't making a horrible job of it. However, their edits and behaviour make it pretty clear that they are the same person behind a globally locked account that has edited the exact same articles. This is further confirmed by looking at the original username they used prior to it being renamed & locked (you can see the old username on their renamed-user talk page), which is virtually the same as their new username. As I see it there are two scenarios - someone was globally blocked and has come back and therefore it's sockpuppetry, or they requested the lock, e.g. to make a fresh start, lock in which case there are no shenanigans. I'm interested to know if this is something someone like you (a checkuser) should investigate? I'm not massively keen on making it public in case of the latter reason. 10mmsocket (talk) 12:18, 23 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Reverting to old and incorrect information

[edit]

If you took the time to read the news or updated information before making reverts you would see you are completely wrong. YOu could be constructive and add a source rather than reverting to outdated false info. Perhaps check the rules of Wikipedia. Trendanscientist (talk) 18:31, 30 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Reverted corrections???

[edit]

Hi, I work for the organization that is described on the page I was editing (VID). The information is outdated and I am tasked with correcting the information, including the location, photos, logo, groups, etc. We need to update the information as our 50-year aniversary is upcoming. I don't understand why you reverted undisputed factual information, that can be seen on the sources - as they have changed. And the few source links that have changed too, I was updating too, but not all at the same time. If I make one major update then it will be reverted just the same by someone else. So how shall I proceed so that you stop unding my changes? VID-OEAW-Editor-BR (talk) 15:06, 5 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

(Talk page stalker) See the note that I have left on your user talk page about paid editing. First of all you need to declare your employed status on your user page. Then, as you have a clear conflict of interest it would best for you to make specific suggestions on the article talk page Talk:Vienna Institute of Demography for other editors to pick up and consider. Maybe take up any further questions you have on the article talk page or your own user talk page. Thanks. 10mmsocket (talk) 15:47, 5 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Block of User:Nnh is Mihoyos puppet

[edit]

Just so you are aware, the user is also blocked on the Chinese Wikipedia for sock/meatpuppetry zh:User:Nnh is Mihoyos puppet. May be worth taking a look here too just in case, since a zhwiki admin has confirmed they have done it there. In solidarity, Gommeh (talk 🎮 sign) 17:21, 5 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Thomas Amlong 1963.jpg

[edit]

A tag has been placed on File:Thomas Amlong 1963.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

999REAL 💬 ⬆ 00:36, 7 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Reconsider salt of Hermitcraft

[edit]

Hello, I am Dare2Leap.

As a major contributor to Draft:Hermitcraft, I want you to reconsider the salting of the title Hermitcraft owing to significant potential improvements to notability and sourcing. I recommend either moving it right away if you find the draft meets notability or keeping the salt and wait for AfC, because of the potential for new users to create duplicates.

Thanks. |)are2|_eap (Talk) 15:39, 9 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Opinion on second chance

[edit]

Hello there. I am TimeIash and I wanted to know if it's still possible for me to get a second chance and unblocked from wikipedia. I have done a lot of constructive edits recently and found it to be better. If I make a deal to not sock again and come back in six months, will I regain trust? I am asking you because when I asked another checkuser the same thing, I got reverted and ignored. Hoping you have a different opinion on this. RZWJ (talk) 14:38, 11 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

@RZWJ Please follow the guidelines on appealing a block (WP:UNBLOCK). Materialscientist doesn't usually respond to requests. |)are2|_eap (Talk) 23:57, 12 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Ugh, no. Depends on request (Yamla's comment below partly explains why). Materialscientist (talk) 05:29, 13 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
There's no chance Timelash will ever be unblocked. Death threats, outing, and numerous other violations which continue on a literally daily basis. Nor would the community even override the ban placed by the Wikimedia Foundation in any case. Timelash knows this perfectly well. --Yamla (talk) 00:51, 13 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
