I sent you an email
[edit]...a few days ago. — Chrisahn (talk) 08:28, 16 September 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Chrisahn, sorry for the delay in replying. I've had a few other SPIs keeping me busy but I'll do my best to get back to that one in the next couple of days. MCE89 (talk) 12:48, 16 September 2026 (UTC)
August 2026 AfC backlog drive award
[edit]Minor edits are often-overlooked, but essential, contributions to the Wikipedia. The Minor Barnstar is awarded for making minor edits of the utmost quality. This is awarded to MCE89 for accumulating more than 38 points during the August 2026 AfC backlog drive. Thank you for sharing your time, knowledge and dedication; together, we reviewed over 12,700 drafts during the drive and brought the 3+ month backlog down to just a single week, which we couldn't have done it without you. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 12:44, 16 September 2026 (UTC)
Conflict of interest VRT queue rolling appointment application – September 2026
[edit]The Arbitration Committee has received an application for the conflict of interest VRT queue permissions from MCE89 (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA) and has reviewed it in consultation with the functionaries team. The committee invites the community to evaluate the candidacy and comment on the talk page of this noticeboard until 23:59, 24 September 2026 (UTC). Asking a question out of curiosity
[edit]Greetings MCE, I noticed that you removed summaries of some edits by a TA at ANI. The topic was also removed. Can I ask why you did so? I didn't see what happened. SH360! (Must edit! Must report!) 13:20, 17 September 2026 (UTC)
- Sorry @SlapstickHumor360!, I understand your curiosity but it wouldn't be appropriate for me to say anything about what those edits contained. You can see in the edit history that the edits have now been suppressed, which means that even I as an administrator can no longer see them. You can see WP:OS for an explanation of what suppression is and why edits sometimes need to be hidden. MCE89 (talk) 13:38, 17 September 2026 (UTC)
Another sock?
[edit]Hi, is this TA an A5 sock? Saw you blocked a bunch while I was patrolling. Jdcomix (talk) 16:52, 17 September 2026 (UTC)
- I'm not the most familiar with A5, but I asked a few of the other SPI clerks who know the case better than I do and their sense was that it's probably someone impersonating A5. Should all be handled now. MCE89 (talk) 17:09, 17 September 2026 (UTC)
Women in Green's October 2026 Edit-a-thon
[edit]
Hello MCE89:
WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2026!
Running from October 1 to 31, 2026, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films or organizations created by women) during the event period — and this time, we are extending our focus to encourage more Did You Know (DYK) submissions spotlighting new GA articles about women and women's works. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by the event's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.
We hope to see you there!

Appeal the block
[edit]Hi,
my account User:The Egyptian Translator has been blocked, and I didn’t know why?! Then i checked the investigation page and you guys said that I am not the same user but my behavior seems similar.
This is unfair; I am not connected to whatever this is, and all my edits were completely standard with zero vandalism, and almost all of them were translated from other languages.
If you are willing to help me, please advise what I can do to appeal this block as I can’t write on Wikipedia from my account.
Thanks ~2026-51186-73 (talk) 22:07, 22 September 2026 (UTC)
- @~2026-51186-73, you were blocked based on both behaviour and technical evidence, which both indicated that you are related to Crimsonalfred2022. Since your account has been globally locked, you would need to first appeal your lock by emailing stewards@wikimedia.org. MCE89 (talk) 22:39, 22 September 2026 (UTC)
- Okay I will do, thank you for your help. ~2026-51186-73 (talk) 23:49, 22 September 2026 (UTC)
Block evading TA claiming editor deaths on talk pages
[edit]Hey @MCE89:
Is it possible for the editor abusing multiple TAs to claim that editors, including myself, are dead, in violation of several prior blocks, to be hardblocked or autoblocked? Looks like they're using a very large amount of TAs and most seem to be unblocked. Cheers (re: Special:Contributions/~2026-35205-53) Shield \\ |T| - |C| - Solidarity \\ 15:13, 23 September 2026 (UTC)
- @.sh1eldo7: I've placed a couple of blocks that should hopefully stop them for now. I didn't block the remaining TAs on that IP as it looks like none of them have made any edits, but if you've spotted any other TAs doing the same thing on other IPs let me know and I'll take care of it. MCE89 (talk) 15:27, 23 September 2026 (UTC)
- Understood, thanks much

@MCE89: (feel free to rv this edit if needed); should the diff I just rollbacked get an RD2 revdel? Shield \\ |T| - |C| - Solidarity \\ 01:47, 26 September 2026 (UTC)
- I think it's probably fine in this case, although different admins may have different thresholds for RD2. Thanks for checking though. MCE89 (talk) 02:44, 26 September 2026 (UTC)
- Alright, just wanted to make sure because I saw the previous vandal's edit has been fully revdelled (edit summary/username/contents). Thanks for replying.
- Cheers

Roblox Obby Draftify
[edit]Heyo, I moved Roblox Obby to Draft: because it had no citations and was not ready to be an article, but I accidentally left a redirect at the original article. Could you uh... delete it please? Thanks.. (and sorry) pattersonuwu njz (talk) 02:32, 26 September 2026 (UTC)
- Oh I messed up hard actually please ignore that above pattersonuwu njz (talk) 02:35, 26 September 2026 (UTC)
- You're all good! In future I'd suggest using the script User:MPGuy2824/MoveToDraft, which will automatically tag the redirect that's left behind after a draftification for WP:R2. The script will also warn you if you try to draftify a page that's less than an hour old — per WP:NPPHOUR, you generally shouldn't be draftifying a page less than an hour after it's created. Other than that it doesn't look to me like you did anything wrong here :) MCE89 (talk) 02:41, 26 September 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you lolol, I honestly assumed I didn't have the ability to move pages, so I assumed it would stop me xD Will do more reading about NPP before anything else. see ya around !!! pattersonuwu njz (talk) 02:51, 26 September 2026 (UTC)

About "Santi Hoonapim6"
[edit]They just keep spamming link on the article non-stop, can you check on AIV? Thanks! Itsjuenyin (talk) 07:02, 26 September 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up @Itsjuenyin, it looks like the stewards just locked them all. MCE89 (talk) 07:07, 26 September 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks! Hmm... Itsjuenyin (talk) 08:16, 26 September 2026 (UTC)

IP blocked indefinitely
[edit]Hey, I noticed you blocked indefinitely. I thought you weren’t supposed to block IP editiors indefinitely since IP users change over time. ~2026-51934-98 (talk) 00:34, 28 September 2026 (UTC)
- @~2026-51934-98, that's actually a registered account. The username contains various non-Latin characters to make it look like an IP address, but you can see at Special:CentralAuth/154.݂61.݂128.݂166 that it's a registered account. Thanks for checking though :) MCE89 (talk) 00:46, 28 September 2026 (UTC)
Heard Island and McDonald Islands subpages
[edit]Hello, writing as you have extensive Heard and McDonald Islands experience. I noticed List of birds of Heard and McDonald Islands and List of mammals of Heard Island and McDonald Islands have different title structures (whether to island Heard), is one or the other preferable? Both are used in some cases, but it feels like our descriptive titles should pick one or the other. CMD (talk) 00:49, 29 September 2026 (UTC)
Block evasion
[edit]Even as you revert JEL123456789's edits, he is back reverting your reverts - see ~2026-52353-13 (talk · contribs). Sigh... 10mmsocket (talk) 13:41, 29 September 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up @10mmsocket, looks like PhilKnight got that one. MCE89 (talk) 14:57, 29 September 2026 (UTC)

Wondering what to do with persistent disruptive editing
[edit]Hi, we have some persistent editing, first from anonymous accounts and then more recently from ActuallyCryptologicalUriel which add unsourced (then with an irrelevant source that makes no reference to the text inserted) opinion/commentary on current events to the page for St Paul's Cathedral, Dunedin - the revisions have been reverted by a few different editors, but the opinion paragraph is repeatedly added back in, again with no relevance or reliable source. I am assuming this is a good faith attempt to bring attention to their opinion, but is not factual information and fails on several fronts to be encyclopedia material. Is there a way to encourage this user to move on and/or desist from adding in non-relevant material to the article? CryptologicalUriel (talk) 22:19, 12 October 2026 (UTC)
