Copyright problem icon Your edit to Pontrhydyrun Baptist Church has been removed in whole or in part because it contained copyrighted material without a compatible license. If you are the copyright holder, please follow the process at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials to release your work under compatible licenses. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot host copyrighted text or images without a verified compatible license, and all copyright violations will be removed. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but you must write using your own words. Limited copying with context is allowed, but requires special care. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. Dclemens1971 (talk) 14:02, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Can you explain to me what copyrighted material was used? I wrote all the material myself, so I'm confused as to what was wrong with it. ~2026-30911-25 (talk) 14:19, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
The original source does not indicate that it was issued under a Wikipedia-compatible license and thus is presumed to be copyrighted. We have no way of knowing whether you are or aren't the original writer, but unless you can show that the text was originally published under a compatible Creative Commons license or was released to the public domain, or unless you go through the WP:VRT process to document that you are the original author and that you release it under a compatible license, we cannot reproduce it on Wikipedia. Dclemens1971 (talk) 14:40, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Do you mean that the text I wrote on the wikipedia page was too similar to the original source document and therefore breaches copyright? And so, if I change the text to be more distinct from the original source, I can reinstate the page whilst still keeping the references?
Or do you mean that I can't use the archived web page as a source because it is copyrighted? ~2026-30911-25 (talk) 15:00, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
It means you cannot either copy or closely paraphrase the underlying source. If you can write new prose incorporating the sources you've cited, you can add information again. Dclemens1971 (talk) 15:09, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
A few quick links that may help you (all from the same page, which is somewhat long): close paraphrasing (an example), WP:CLOP#How to write acceptable content, just to point toward the parts that may help. Adding archive links is fine, and actually very helpful. ASUKITE 15:11, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. That's largely what I thought. I'm sorry, I thought I had written different enough to be acceptable, but clearly not. It probably doesn't help that I authored both. I'll rework it and resubmit it. I appreciate your help. ~2026-30911-25 (talk) 15:16, 24 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
