Names and sources

Hi there, I see you've moved Eliane Tillieux to Éliane Tillieux. When I created the page, I put it at "Eliane" because I couldn't find a single reliable source that used "Éliane". Have you turned some up? --Andreas Philopater (talk) 12:30, 18 December 2020 (UTC)

Well, the French Wikipedia spells her name with an "É". I guess who better knows that than French speakers? And the diacritics in capital letters are often neglected.

Wikipedia (even when French) is not a reliable source. And this French-language source, for example, has no problem putting a diacritic on "Égalité" but doesn't put one on "Eliane". --Andreas Philopater (talk) 13:19, 18 December 2020 (UTC)

If you look up "Éliane" (or "Eliane") in the French Wikipedia, 95% of the people with this name are spelled with an "É". That's how the name is spelled then. I guess it's similar to the situation with the usage of the Russian letter "ё". In the Russian Wikipedia names like Фёдор [Fyodor] or Артём [Artyom] are spelled with it - because it's the correct way to write them - whereas in most other cases "ё" is simply written as "е". --Extended Cut (talk) 14:59, 18 December 2020 (UTC)

Hello. Not entirely sure what you were trying to do here, but if those are the seats won, then the appropriate parameter to use is simply "seats1", "seats2" etc.

Yes, there are three seat parameters; last_election1 is for seats won at the last election (used to calculate the seat change); current_seats1 for seats held prior to electiosn, and seats1 for seats won in the election. Is what you added the seats won? Number 57 14:29, 13 April 2022 (UTC)

I changed only the current_seats parameters to the number of seats held prior to election, because someone had changed them for the numbers of newly won seats. I guess I did edit them right... Extended Cut (talk) 14:47, 13 April 2022 (UTC)

Finnish markka

I had to revert your edit to the article Finnish markka. The spelling "Suomen markka" is correct. The name literally means "the markka of Finland" and not "the Finnish markka". The name "Suomi", literally meaning "Finland", is always capitalised in Finnish. Now if the name would have been "suomalainen markka", literally meaning "the Finnish markka", then it would be correct to spell it with a lowercase letter. JIP | Talk 20:16, 21 July 2025 (UTC)

Circassian names

Please do not change the order of Circassian names like in Iskhak Mashbash. Much like Hungarian or East Asian languages, surnames always come before given names in Circassian, with few or no exceptions. The main reason the wikipedia page follows western naming system when it comes to Caucasian figures is because it uses their Russianised names (for some reason), but they should be left in accurate order in native name sections.
