Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Food and drink festivals in Portugal

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Category:Food and drink festivals in Portugal indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 05:28, 2 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Your edits to Wit Studio

[edit]

Regarding , the policy for this (MOS:DATEFORMAT) says that, for articles without strong national ties to English-speaking countries, the existing format from the first major editor should be retained. Since that page had been stable with mdy dates for nine years, the policy favors keeping it; not to mention that plenty of Japan-related articles, like Japan, Tokyo, Anime, etc use mdy dates and have for years without any issues. Additionally, per Date and time notation in Japan, Japan uses ymd dates not dmy dates. I reverted the entire edit because I don't have a good way to revert just one part of the edit and scripts generally do not work on mobile where I edit. Do not assume everyone has your tools. Link20XX (talk) 16:54, 29 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Link20XX: Despite I respect MOS:DATEFORMAT, I always made very clear that I don't agree with it. First of all, English is the global language and en.wiki has hence become an international wiki, with more users who speak English as secondary language than users speaking it as mothertongue; it's not just about English-speaking countries. All countries that primarily use YMD, they always pick DMY when they need a non-year-first date format (Afghanistan, Australia, Cameroon, France, Germany, India, Iran, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Poland, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Sri Lanka, United Kingdom, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, etc.). DMY is the de facto global standard, and IMHO it should be the default for basically any country except the US. By the way, I did not assume everyone has [my?] tools; in fact, I also handed you the link, so... just install Wikipedia:MOSNUMscript and enjoy it! You're more than welcome to disagree with the policy, but you still have to follow it regardless. Not following the policy like you did with your edit to Wit Studio because you disagree with it is textbook WP:POINTy editing, which is disruptive and not allowed. If you think the policy should be changed (which you clearly do), you're more than welcome to propose a change on the policy's talk page, but this has been discussed so many times that I strongly doubt any effort would succeed. By the way, I already have that script installed and have used it in the past when I edit by PC (scripts don't work on mobile site as far as I know), but I often don't have access to one and I absolutely hate using the desktop site on mobile as it's hard to edit that way. Link20XX (talk) 19:54, 29 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Link20XX: Yes, I agree with that. That's why I restored both my minor edits and the MDY format. Thanks. Est. 2021 (talk · contribs) 11:27, 30 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

i noticed you felt my edit was not needed, but I felt it was one of the few ways to go about the issue.

there was a templatedata error because the parameter was both required and had a default. I was simply fixing the error. It was, to my knowledge, the correct way to fix the error. if I use

here with no params you can see it clearly does not need the first parameter. Thank you for your time. User "Oreocooke" (speak of the sun and it shines) 15:32, 18 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Oreocooke: That's a notice, not an error. Looks like you're playing with toys you don't understand. Stop messing with a template that has approximately 20,000 transclusions. Est. 2021 (talk · contribs) 16:37, 18 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Est. 2021:: i'm not messing with the template itself, rather a small thing that only matters regarding the visual editor. if it bothers you much i'll put it off. User "Oreocooke" (speak of the sun and it shines) 16:58, 18 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi, could you read this and make sure what it says here is accurate?

I noticed you are a translator from Spanish to English so I thought you could do it. I want to add Hurricane Beryl to this article and I just want to make sure the translation is accurate. Nibnab43637 (talk) 16:19, 8 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi Nibnab43637, you're welcome! I just checked the linked Spanish article. The Dominican Republic portion is essentially accurate and appears to be based directly on that report. The source supports the figures of 89 displaced people and 57 aqueducts out of service, as well as the debris deposited on the Las Américas Highway, damage to beach businesses in Boca Chica, the house collapse in La Zurza, and the destruction of four homes plus damage to three others in La Ciénaga due to strong waves. The wording regarding Ciudad Nueva is also reasonable: the source mentions flooding in Ciudad Nueva and traffic disruptions along the Malecón, although it does not explicitly state that the flooding itself caused the traffic detours. While the source does not explicitly make that connection, the English wording is a reasonable interpretation since both disruptions are reported in the same area. Aside from that minor nuance, the translation appears accurate. Est. 2021 (talk · contribs) 14:09, 9 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
