Image dispute on Silicon Valley article

Hi EndlessCoffee54,
Hope all is well! I don't know if you remember me (we "met" when you invited me to the Bay Area discussion on core cities), but I was wondering if you would be interested in participating in an ongoing dispute on Silicon Valley. I generally spend a lot of time trying to find the best images for an article (it's one of the more leisurely edits I enjoy doing on Wiki) and have come into a dispute with an editor on the Silicon Valley page. I have inserted images in the infobox (along with throughout the page) to represent San Jose and other places in the valley with good, representations of important landmarks and places, to which an editor continues to revert my images. Most notably, I inserted a proper image of SJ's skyline into the infobox to represent the city, to which the other editor insists removing and instead represents SJ with a nondescript, completely unremarkable image of light up palm trees. I might be on a limb here, but having seen the passion you had on the Bay Area article for defending a good representation for the South Bay/San Jose, I figured you might be able to help me do that on this article in regards to images. Why not Olinder-Bonita?

On the black-and-white map just under the heading Geography, I see for example L.P. (Little Portugal), L.S. (Little Saigon), and N.P. (Naglee Park), but I also see O.B. (Olinder-Bonita). Why is Olinder-Bonita wrong according to you? Vame (talk) 18:41, 30 April 2026 (UTC)

It lacks a Wikipedia article of its own, and has no cultural significance when compared to the neighborhoods you mentioned. Little Saigon is the center of the city's Vietnamese community; Little Portugal is the historic center of the Portuguese community in San Jose. Short descriptions

Please stop making short descriptions less useful. They exist as a useful navigational aid for users - by all means add details such as "Bay Area" to San Fran airports... but please stop removing the country. Appreciate the good faith edits and not reverting entirely back to the original version. How would you feel about just changing the descriptions to the following:

SFO --> "Airport in San Mateo County, California, United States"

SJC --> "Airport in San Jose, California, United States".

Etc? If these are meant to just be a navigational aid and avoid the nebulous aspect of the area each airport "serves," which can be discussed with more nuance in the lede and the infobox. EndlessCoffee54 (talk) 18:10, 13 September 2026 (UTC)

Aye, that would make perfect sense - that is essentially all they're for. For example if you search for the articles, the short description is what appears under the article title, and in italics immediately under the title when reading the article.
