Duplicate review notifs

Hi Mike Christie, seems to be duplication of 'under review' notifications on my talk page and User talk:Brandon. Vermont (🐿️—🏳️‍🌈) 15:45, 27 June 2026 (UTC)

ChristieBot and Talk:Frisch–Waugh–Lovell theorem/GA1

Hello @Mike Christie: not sure if you are aware, but for the past day or so, ChristieBot has been posting errors on all updates related to the hold on Talk:Frisch–Waugh–Lovell theorem/GA1. Message reads: "Errors listed! This should now be fixed. It was caused by a second nomination that was removed rather than closed via one of the usual channels; the bot currently assumes that nomination page numbers will never go backwards. I'll have to think about a reliable way to fix that in general. For now I just deleted the bogus extra nomination from the bot's database. Navbox

Hey Mike, following my request at WT:GA, TechnoSquirrel69 has added a navbox to WP:GAN which ChristieBot has promptly and likely predictably removed in the following edit. Next time you're in the backend, would you be able to add this back in? Cheers, Whonting (talk) 08:03, 12 July 2026 (UTC)

Just saw this. I did wonder whether the edit would conflict with ChristieBot, but I assumed that by adding it below the <!-- EVERYTHING ABOVE THIS COMMENT IS UPDATED AUTOMATICALLY BY A BOT --> line, it would be spared. I don't remember why this was, but I think those comments should be corrected -- will take a look when I can and update the comments to reflect what can and can't be updated. User talk notifications bug

Hey Mike! You may have noticed this already, but this error on Talk:Fire Emblem Warriors caused ChristieBot to serve the nominator 14 "under review" notifications, which seems less than optimal. I had a look at these last night and there are actually two different bugs here. One of them might be worth adding a template error message for -- the status parameter was completely removed from the template. That is, the edit didn't leave behind an empty "|status=|" parameter, it left no mention of the status parameter at all. Could we add something for that? Mike, no, Wikimedia treats it the same whether "status= or a missing status parm. Maybe we should consider putting the error message back, but then the error would appear for every nominator for the first 30 minutes. Prhartcom (talk) 11:50, 14 August 2026 (UTC)

Didn't realize that, but you're right, that means it can't be treated as a template error. I'll work on avoiding the repeated talk page messages; it's already reported as an error in the GAN edit summary, so as long as it stops spamming talk page messages it should be OK. Username change issues

This seems related to the redirect issue noted above, but maybe it isn't.

A few days ago I put Eurovision Song Contest 1972's GAN on hold. The nomination is listed both at GAN and on the review page under the nominator's username at the time ... which they changed about six weeks ago.

I noticed today that the nominator had not received any notification of the review's change in status (well, to be fair, even if they had it probably wouldn't have made a difference since they haven't edited in almost three weeks, but this does seem to be a common pattern for them so I expect they will return). So I took it upon myself to leave a message on their talk page.

The bot does permit users to change their names, but because users don't always want the names connected it requires them to say so first. Typically a nominator will have the talk page on their watchlist anyway, so they do see a review starting. The errors page usually lists this as an error so someone can look into it, but perhaps that failed to happen this time. When I'm next at the PC where I can work on this I will take a look.
