Dropping case on the vandalism topic
[edit]Hello Aoidh I write to you to notify you that I am formally dropping the case against you that I raised on the topic of the vandalism of the GNU variants article, on the grounds that the topic is no longer relevant as a past concern. As time passes with it the article changes, and eventually the issue naturally fades away as a concern. I have now decided I will put an official end to this by now writing to you that I consider the issue closed.
I hold no ill feelings towards you and I hope you have not perceived my writings as an attack on the quality of you as a person. The issue between us was purely intellectual and a difference of opinion on some technical matters. I will not bring up the issue again and will seize any further comments on relevant discussion threads on that matter, and I will post a comment on those relevant discussion threads that I consider the issue closed.

[edit]Hi, Aoidh, is this disruption from a blocked user? I’m aware that you were the blocking admin and I wanted to let you know if they were abusing the block page while blocked https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Loc863#Unblock_request — Preceding unsigned comment added by DawnB3 (talk • contribs) 03:04, 3 September 2026 (UTC)
- @DawnB3: I don't see any abuse on the talk page or its history; requesting and discussing an unblock is not an abuse of a blocked editor's talk page. - Aoidh (talk) 20:03, 4 September 2026 (UTC)
- I don’t either, I just know that using a talk page while blocked persistently is against the rules DawnB3 (talk) 00:03, 8 September 2026 (UTC)
- I wasn’t sure if replying like this was abuse. DawnB3 (talk) 00:04, 8 September 2026 (UTC)
- There is no rule that says that. They hadn't made any edits in several days when you made the above comment, and their comments are in no way abuse by any definition. Blocked editors are allowed to make unblock requests and discuss their blocks. - Aoidh (talk) 01:09, 8 September 2026 (UTC)
- I think I misunderstood something, my mistake. DawnB3 (talk) 12:11, 8 September 2026 (UTC)

109.161.128.0/17 (contd), plus a new IPV6 /64
[edit]Hello, re User talk:Aoidh/Archives/2026 § 109.161.128.0/17 and 62.209.8.0/21 from this February: after the block expired in July, the /17 range did indeed briefly come back to make the same disruptive classical music edits as before, though it hasn't done so for a month and a half now and a reblock would cause some collateral damage, so I don't think it'd be worth re-blocking that one. However, please consider blocking 2001:1A40:1253:D500::/64 which has edited more recently. I'll keep an occasional eye on the IP's in case something does flare up. Thanks! Graham87 (talk) 09:55, 12 September 2026 (UTC)
- @Graham87: I hope you're doing well, I've blocked the range for a month. If they continue after it expires I can re-block for longer, but I don't want to block ranges for more than is necessary if they're likely to hop onto a new range. - Aoidh (talk) 21:35, 12 September 2026 (UTC)
