| If you came here because of a requested move I closed, please note that I sometimes provide a closing comment, unless the consensus is obvious. If you found that comment insufficient, I will be happy to double check the discussion and overturn or make changes to the closure if necessary. I am still learning about closures and recognize that such discussions are not simple voting processes. Also, if I closed a requested move as moved but did not actually move the page, that is likely because it is move-protected. |

Hi there! I'm confused how a single comment from another user constitutes a "discussion" that results in reverting the article title back to a longer version. I'm not aware of WP:CONSISTENCY applying like that. I didn't even have a chance to respond before it was closed and removed. The reasoning for keeping it at the current title (Riverdale High School (Hancock County, Ohio)) isn't even sound, especially since "Riverdale High School (Ohio)" is already a redirect to the very article (meaning it has no disambiguation issue).
The reason given was that other Riverdale High School articles used "city, state" in the title, so therefore the Ohio school needed to retain "(Hancock County, Ohio)" in title. Riverdale High School (Georgia) had already been moved to that title, along with Riverdale High School (Quebec), and I had no problem moving all but one other Riverdale High School articles to the "Riverdale High School (state)" version since there is no instance of two Riverdale High Schools in one US state. In other words, no need to keep longer titles than necessary.
From WP:NC: "The title is not longer than necessary to identify the article's subject and distinguish it from other subjects"), so titles should use the most succinct version possible and in these cases, the state name alone clearly separates them from the others. Even at WP:CONSISTENCY the examples used show the application is about the broader subject (in this case schools) not specifically schools named Riverdale High School. Looking at other school articles with common names, in US schools, disambiguating with the state is quite common, such as Roosevelt High School and Washington High School, and even on less common school names like Crestwood High School, Springfield High School, and Riverview High School. In all, "(city, state)" is typically only used in the title in instances where there is more than one school of that name in a particular state, again, since the state name alone doesn't fully disambiguate. In reality, the only other Riverdale High School article currently with the location name (Riverdale High School (Jefferson Parish, Louisiana)) should also be moved to just Riverdale High School (Louisiana)). Like the Ohio school, it's already a redirect to the longer name and also requires a technical move. -- JonRidinger (talk) 04:19, 19 August 2026 (UTC)
- Oops, I definitely did remove the request too early. I apologize about that. Do you want me to bring it back? Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 04:28, 19 August 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks! I would like it returned just enough to get a reply to the editor who seemed to object, though it seemed their objection was merely pointing out that other similar titles existed rather than flat out opposing it. There was no chance to discuss it. --JonRidinger (talk) 12:44, 19 August 2026 (UTC)
- I can also just open a new technical request since the Louisiana school also needs assistance to move for the same reasons. --JonRidinger (talk) 12:46, 19 August 2026 (UTC)
- The request is back, but I placed it in contested. Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 12:48, 19 August 2026 (UTC)

NOYEAR and user essay
[edit]I think your statement at the likes of Talk:2022 Krasnoyarsk kindergarten shooting#Requested move August 12 2026 is incorrect, the relevance of the user essay (that I didn't write) is that every single article on Wikipedia could include additional descriptive names for example albums could include "(album)" yet we don't. WP:RECOGNIZABILITY is clearly not the case as someone familiar with, although not necessarily an expert with the shooting will recognize it. In addition I'd point out that WP:NCE says This guideline complements the WP:Article titles policy and should be read and understood that way. In the case of any contradictions the policy page takes precedence.
Even though there have probably been other shootings in Krasnoyarsk kindergarten this shouldn't be an issue since we only need to distinguish from notable topics. Crouch, Swale (talk) 19:03, 20 August 2026 (UTC)
- True. One thing I want to note is that the user essay doesn't say anything about years for event articles, although I can see why you interpreted them as unnecessary disambiguation. Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 19:27, 20 August 2026 (UTC)
- Thing is, I don't exactly know what you want me to do, such as reopening the discussion. Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 19:28, 20 August 2026 (UTC)
- I don't really think the discussion needs to be reopened but I don't agree with your closing statement. The relevance of the user essay is that people thought that the year should be included for WP:RECOGNIZABILITY reasons even though it says "The title is a name or description of the subject that would be recognized by someone familiar with, although not necessarily an expert in, the subject area.". A person familiar with this specific shooting would recognize it without the year. The point being that you could include other information such as the date (28 March 2022 Krasnoyarsk kindergarten shooting, weapon 28 March 2022 Krasnoyarsk kindergarten shooting with a 12-gauge МР-135 pump shotgun, victims 28 March 2022 Krasnoyarsk kindergarten shooting with a 12-gauge МР-135 pump shotgun with one death and motive 28 March 2022 misandry Krasnoyarsk kindergarten shooting with a 12-gauge МР-135 pump shotgun with one death etc but if we all agree to only use the subject name there is no reason to change the title at all, yes I understand it isn't a proper noun but I see no evidence that the year is part of the WP:COMMONNAME. Revert Eight Deaths of Spider-Man move
[edit]Hey! I noticed that you recently moved Eight Deaths of Spider-Man to The 8 Deaths of Spider-Man following a request. However, the user who made the request has been confirmed as a sockpuppet of TotalTruthTeller24, who is known for their disruptive page moves. Could you revert the move? Thanks. Bubalú
[edit]Hi, the issue of disambiguation and the WP:PRIMARY TOPIC is currently being discussed at Talk:Bubalú. However, the accent in the title is actually an error; sources list it without the accent. In the meantime, is it possible to correct the name of Bubalú by removing the accent (Bubalu)? Thanks in advance. ~2026-48338-68 (talk) 13:55, 6 September 2026 (UTC)
- You're not supposed to move a page while it is being affected by an RM. Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 14:53, 6 September 2026 (UTC)
- However, it is possible someone may end up proposing a move to that base title without the diacritic. Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 14:53, 6 September 2026 (UTC)
Requested move you closed - Celebrity Series of Boston
[edit]Hi there, I am writing in response to your closing a move request I had made to rename Celebrity Series of Boston to Vivo Performing Arts.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Celebrity_Series_of_Boston
The first user in that Talk section had opposed the move, because they did not feel like it had overtaken the old one in reliable sources.
I then posted several articles reflecting the new name, from local (Boston), regional, and national industry sources. The old name is no longer in use: all the organization's website, press releases, and performance-related materials are under the new name only.
Can you please take another look and check out the sources I cited to reflect the move? A few of the articles are behind paywalls but the URLs/article titles do mention the change.
Disclosing I have a COI - I am a paid employee.
Thanks so much for reconsidering: the old name is completely out of use in all public-facing communications, except to connote the doing business as designation that we are currently (Sept 2026) working under. GM at Vivo (talk) 18:07, 9 September 2026 (UTC)
- Nobody else came to advocate for or against the move, hence why I closed it as no consensus. Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 18:34, 9 September 2026 (UTC)
- Can we keep it open, or can you look at what I posted and approve it? I'm new to this kind of discussion, so I'm not sure how this works, but the organization is definitely presenting events, selling tickets, and operating under the name Vivo Performing Arts.
- It's not a high-traffic article, so there's not going to be a ton of readers to show up in the Talk channel in favor of the move. That said, it's important to be up to date and reflect the name that the company is operating under. GM at Vivo (talk) 18:45, 9 September 2026 (UTC)
- I'd probably wait a couple months, then open a new RM. Add the sources to the rationale. Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 21:31, 9 September 2026 (UTC)

- a redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" whose target is neither a disambiguation page nor page that has a disambiguation-like function.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.
