Checking in
[edit]Hey 1brianm7, I just wanted to check in and see how you were doing as that was quite a passionate response you made at WT:DYK earlier. I stand with you that what happened at DYK today should not have happened. I'm thankful I noticed it when I did because if it wasn't for the fact that I am also a fan of Kiara then I probably wouldn't have. I hope you didn't mind what I said in my beginning statement about me wanting to nominate the article in the future. It wasn't my intention to steal this from you.
For context, a couple of months ago, I was working on a Kiara article too and got a decent ways through it in a userpage of mine. However, because I have other priorities (on-site and IRL) and also one of the interviews of hers I couldn't get a hold of to read, I ended up losing steam on the article and went onto do other things, with the hope of being able to revive it in the future. I did have my own DYK hook in mind too. I was a bit disappointed someone got to it before I did but I was still thankful she got one at all and was written by someone who cared to make one for her in the first place. (I also planned on making a Korone article but I haven't started that yet.) I still do plan to do a revamp of Kiara at some point as well. That being said, I hope you are doing well and maybe we can hopefully work on vtuber projects together in the future. All the best, CaptainGalaxy 21:49, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks for the kind words. None of my anger is directed at you. I would be very willing to work on a Vtuber project with you at some point in the future. Sorry for grabbing it (somebody doing that with an article of mine is a huge fear, though that is luckily much less likely for a random member of the California Senate who died in 1908).
- I would say more but I am really stressed out right now about this whole thing and am probably going to shut off of wiki for the day. Thank you 1brianm7 (talk) 22:11, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
Asking for permission
[edit]Hello again, 1brianm7. I hope you are feeling better today. I saw you have re-opened the Kiara DYK and was wondering if I could add an ALT hook with your permission? Even if the re-nomination gets shot down, I would like to at least help you in your case. All the best, CaptainGalaxy 21:32, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you. That would be completely fine with me. I remembered after reopening the nom that you had mentioned you had hook ideas and intended to send a talk page message, but I forgot. Cheers. 1brianm7 (talk) 21:46, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for the permission, I have gone ahead and added the hook. In addition I have improved the section that involved the hook on the article from the draft I made. Hope you like it, CaptainGalaxy 21:58, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

- Thank you very much! I had gotten some Wikidata notifications about pages being connected with Ro.wiki versions in the past, and it was interesting to see how much coverage of Hololive members there is over there. Nice work! It's interesting to see how our work has sometimes coincided. You made ro:Inugami Korone five days before I made en:Inugami Korone and you made ro:Juufuutei Raden three days before I made en:Juufuutei Raden. 1brianm7 (talk) 23:13, 28 May 2026 (UTC)
- At this format I'm doing the things in order, Been doing it since like November 2025. I also made some custom templates like this or that since in my opinion most infoboxes on the romanian wiki are a bit outdated from a stylistic point of view (then again I will have to have a discussion with the fellows that do edit the red lock formats one day...)
- I also wonder why on enwiki and usually only on there the picture in the infobox is like over 1/3 of the page width when in most other lang versions its like 1/4 or technicalities like that (this has been the case for pages of any person in general, is it a standard over here?). The one biggest struggle is copyrighted material. Like for instance I tried to make a discography list table and have the cover on a column at the discography section, but Ive been wrist-slapped for it in the past, so I'm stuck to using colours and gradients (for the most part).
- Well either way it's a bit more lively over here at the english wikipedia than at the romanian wikipedia. I have noticed you guys really cover everything (partly due to a convergence of english being internationally spoken and I'm pretty sure more used in my own country than the local version as well).
- See you at the next occasion to chat! Melonoone (talk) 10:06, 29 May 2026 (UTC)

AfD
[edit]I'm extremely unhappy with how you went about !voting at the Sonya Lutter AfD. You wrote a backhanded comment, pinging me, as rationale for your !keep. I can't begin to think why you thought this would be taken well. Now, another editor has joined and added to the framing that my comment (from 8 months ago!) is "baffling" and a "deep misunderstanding". You are not a new editor and your talk page history shows somebody who is obviously a good editor. I invite you to strike your comment (sarcasm or not) and write a proper rationale for keeping the article. One that doesn't attempt to discredit another editor in the process. 11WB (talk) 13:45, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
- I am providing the opportunity for a WP:MUTUAL withdrawal here. Whether you intended to offend or not is irrelevant now, as this only serves to disrupt the AfD. I'm willing to draw a line under this for the sake of civility. 11WB (talk) 13:48, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
- I apologize. That was not how I intended my comment to be read. I read your !vote and considered it to be the best researched and most thorough look at the article and its subject. Ergo, the best vote. That you came down on the other side of the article's notability is irrelevant. Disagreements on notability criteria happen every day and what matters is that we act in good faith and try and write an encyclopedia. Your !vote was the most thorough look at the article. The only disagreement I identified with it is that NPROF says if somebody meets one criteria they are notable, but you said they met some criteria and !voted delete. I assumed that you had assumed NPROF works like most other SNG's in that meeting one criteria only mean a likelihood of notability when, for NPROF, it means notability. It was not intended as a slight against you. Reading your comment again, I am not sure that I correctly read your rationale. Apologies. I'll strike when I am at my computer. 1brianm7 (talk) 17:37, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
- I appreciate this, thank you. Sometimes I do overreact. This looked like... well I don't even know. It was JoelleJay's reply that tipped it over the edge for me, as at that point it went from only yourself disagreeing (which is perfectly acceptable I'll add), to another editor deciding to rip down an old comment for their own rationale. Had I known this would result some time later, I likely wouldn't have bothered. Academics is an area I don't usually participate in.
- Thank you for the apology. As it was not my intention to !vote, I am going to strike it. I only did so due to the ping. Please feel free to ignore my reply from this morning. That was an emotional reply, and was not appropriate for AfD. If it hasn't been replied to, I will remove it entirely. 11WB (talk) 18:07, 7 July 2026 (UTC)

I learned a lot from the GAN, especially about including timestamps for video citations and splitting the reflist for primary and tertiary sources. Good article nominations RfC
[edit]Hi 1brianm7,
There is an ongoing Request for Comment (RfC) at Wikipedia:Good article nominations/August 2026 RfC, which you may be interested in because in the past year, you have nominated or reviewed more than one good article nomination. This message has also been sent to all subscribers to the Good Article Gazette. The RfC contains many proposals (33 at the time of writing), which are split into the following categories: nominators, reviewers, reviews, volunteer roles, reviewing initiatives, and others. However, you are more than welcome to add any proposals of your own that you wish to put to the community.
By the end of September, all the proposals will have been closed by an uninvolved editor, either as a consensus for one of the options or with no consensus. At this point, editors will be invited again to develop these proposals into coherent policy and implement them.
Thank you for your contributions to the good articles project, and I look forward to your input! (in solidarity), JacobTheRox(talk|contributions) 16:02, 11 August 2026 (UTC)

Regarding Mint Fantôme
[edit]Hi 1brianm7.
Regarding Mint Fantôme, you're right when reverting the re-categorization performed by me, since she is not actually Japanese. However, there are few social media she has an account (namely YouTube and X), that mention the respective accouns are based in the US. Also, the Business Insider report mentions she lived in the US. So, do you thing that are enough proof to claim she is American, therefore, being able to re-categorised into Category:American VTubers? Please answer ath the talk page of the subject, since I've opened a thread there. Thanks in advance. Amitie 10g (talk) 20:54, 18 August 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Amitie 10g. Thanks for the work you are doing on recategorizing VTubers. I am guessing that it took you about 6 minutes to write this response, since I responded there 6 minutes ago :) Hope you have a good day! 1brianm7 (talk) 20:55, 18 August 2026 (UTC)

New page reviewer granted (90-day trial period)
[edit]
Hi 1brianm7, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the new page reviewer user right to your account. This means you now have access to the page curation tools and can start patrolling pages from the new pages feed. If you asked for this at requests for permissions, please check back there to see if your access is time-limited or if there are other comments.
This is a good time to re-acquaint yourself with the guidance at Wikipedia:New pages patrol. Before you get started, please take the time to:
- Add Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers to your watchlist to follow NPP-related discussions
- If you use Twinkle, configure it to log your CSDs and PRODs
- If you can read any languages other than English, add yourself to the list of reviewers with language proficiencies
You can find a list of other useful links and tools for patrollers at Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Resources. If you are ever unsure what to do, ask your fellow patrollers or just leave the page for someone else to review – you're not alone! Dclemens1971 (talk) 01:41, 29 August 2026 (UTC)
Top Guns
[edit]I think a disambiguation page is the best solution. You're probably right that somebody entering this phrase in the search box is more than likely looking for the movie franchise on the basis of popularity, but I think there should be a way for them to find the TV show given that the name is an exact match. There's also Top Guns: The Next Generation, which is a current TV show. –CWenger (^ • @) 16:46, 2 September 2026 (UTC)
- That's fair. I've converted it to a disambig, with some other terms I've found. I didn't see a mention of the current TV show on wiki, but it should be added if one is founded. 1brianm7 (talk) 18:24, 2 September 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks! I added an entry for it. –CWenger (^ • @) 18:36, 2 September 2026 (UTC)

Hololive restructuring
[edit]As you may have seen, Hololive English, Hololive Indonesia, and Hololive DEV_IS are all being merged with the main Hololive branch, and will no longer exist as separate things. Since you're the number-one editor of Hololive content here on enwiki, I figured I'd ask you what should be done in the talents' articles with regard to this. Thanks, QuicoleJR (talk|edits) 17:26, 7 September 2026 (UTC)
- Ah, I have a reputation, the horror! Thanks for coming by QuicoleJR, hope you are doing well. Perhaps this should be a thread on Hololive Production, for higher visibility. I have been thinking on this a bit since I saw the announcement. My immediate impression is that the way I phrased it in Ina and Kiara's articles is still fine: "She debuted as part of Hololive English's first generation "Myth" on September 12/13, 2020." I don't think the lede phrasing needs to be changed in that instance, since being part of the first English branch is definitely significant. Perhaps a note or sentence in the body saying "Since 2026, so and so", and perhaps changing the other Myth articles to that if need be. For the JP talents, from looking at how I wrote Okayu and Korone, I don't think anything needs to be changed, since units like Hololive Gamers and such still exist. That may be true for other JP talents, and if not perhaps the easiest change is to phrase it the same as I have on those articles. Will have to think more on what to do with DEV_IS, kinda glad I wrote Kanade and Hajime before this announcement so I didn't have to puzzle it out after the fact. For Template:Hololive, not really sure but perhaps moving the organization to debut date. So, instead of Hololive, Hololive English, and Hololive DEV_IS, we have 2017-2018, 2019, 2020, 2021-present, which has the advantage of maintaining the format we have now (except for Chloe, and on that note I have no clue what to do with graduated/Ame-type members). I am fairly sure that at least Real Sound will report on this, so we won't be flying blind with primary sources. 1brianm7 (talk) 18:07, 7 September 2026 (UTC)
- The following is in response to a question QuicoleJR made at Template talk:Hololive Production#So it goes, and my response got sufficiently off-topic that I just decided to put it here. The question was in response to them asking why when I said this: "A bunch of the holomems without articles meet some of the WP:NSINGER criteria, but I'm personally not at the point where I'd make articles on that basis."Hi QuicoleJR, there's a bunch of reasons and I don't think any of them are particularly good. So the first is that, until recently, my understanding of notability criterion was not great. It is my estimation that I learned about GNG at some point between April and November 2025 (I published my first article in March 2025 and started editing about VTubers in December). Until some point in July 2026, my understanding of SNGs was particularly deletionist, not out of any ideological motivation just out of a misunderstanding of consensus. Essentially, I believed that the SNGs (besides NPOL, NPROF, and NPLACE) were to help out people going "This stub is bad and does not have sufficient sources to prove notability. I'd nominate it for deletion but it meets multiple SNG criteria so let's not mess up my track record and someone is going to find sources and the article will be kept." At this moment, I don't really think that's true, going "professors or politicians are the only people who are notable by virtue of their own accomplishments and not secondary coverage of others, no matter the success the SNGs indicate for another person, it is irrelevant, they need secondary sources" just sounds dumb.Writing a Wikipedia article takes time that I could theoretically procrastinate or waste in other ways, and so I only do so if I think that it's unlikely to be AfDed. AFC accepts articles that are 51% likely to be kept over deleted, but my personal estimation of acceptability of deletion risk is probably lower. I think I'm probably too conservative in that calculation, especially since my two thinnest articles have been put under scrutiny by editors who habitually start AfDs, but none did so. At the end of the day, if I write a perfect article based solely on NSINGER, it will only likely be kept, not presumably as in GNG. The SNGS have in the past informed me on if I should start articles based on GNG or NBASIC, as thin passes of those with a strong pass of SNG makes me feel it will likely be kept. So, with all of that context, I think my last reply essentially boils down to "I haven't done it yet". I don't think it is indicative of whether I will take any future action. The likeliest articles that I am to make based on NSINGER are probably Subaru, AZKi, Koyori, Lamy, and then IRyS, Hakos Baelz, and Fuwamoco (probably, unless I get impatient and have some time to kill, waiting until the late 2026/early 2027 albums from the last four release). Also just noting for the record that my comments on which are notable is probably wrong since I had forgotten to search Chinese sources, which opens up a whole new can of worms on whether a source is reliable and has significant coverage. 1brianm7 (talk) 05:51, 12 September 2026 (UTC)
