As of 2025, I remain concerned that WP has no handle on WP:POV editors and paid advocates on wikipedia, who undermine the neutrality of a page, who will manufacture controversy, who spread fear, uncertainty and doubt, who isolate critical content and critical editors by divide and rule tactics, and who don't shy away from incivility and social undermining.

The idea of self-policing, expecting editors to play nice and recuse themselves if they have a conflict of interest, remains neither realistic nor enforceable.

Thanks to investigative journalism, picked up in the WP: Signpost by HaeB and Andreas Kolbe, for example here WP:Wikipedia_Signpost/2023-07-17/In_the_media, the community occasionally gets reminded, how WP is instrumentalized and how damaging the issue is.
