I am Mark Sauter, a journalist and author. I founded and run the POW Investigative Project (powinvestigativeproject.org), a research project on unaccounted-for American prisoners of war from the Korean War, the Cold War and the Vietnam War, and I am a co-author of three books on the subject. I previously ran the site kpows.com, which is cited in several articles here and is now offline; its material is being moved to the POW Investigative Project site.

Conflict of interest declaration. I have a connection to the POW Investigative Project and to kpows.com. Under WP:COI I do not edit articles on these subjects directly. I post on article talk pages, describe the primary source material the project holds, and leave it entirely to independent editors to judge whether and how any of it should be used. Where I propose a specific change I will use an edit request so that an uninvolved editor reviews it.

The project holds declassified U.S. government records obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, Russian and East European archival material, and interview material gathered since 1989. I am glad to supply a copy of any document I cite to any editor who asks. Use the "Email this user" link in the toolbox, or the contact form on the project site.
