On April 29, 2015, a PNR Metro Commuter Line train derailed in Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines. Out of 500 passengers, 80 were injured although no casualties were reported.

The train service was running between Tutuban and Alabang when a passenger coach derailed and overturned, dragging the adjacent coach with it. Consequently, operations were halted for two months to conduct safety inspections. The service was restored in July of the same year.

Accident

At 3:46 pm UTC+8, a PNR Metro Commuter Line train heading southbound derailed on the bridge between the EDSA and Nichols stations. As it approached the bridge, one of the passenger coaches derailed and overturned, pulling the neighboring coach along with it. The last coach remained upright although the entire trainset veered off the tracks.

Aftermath

The derailment caused the entire PNR Metro Commuter Line service to be suspended as the government inspected the line. The investigation found that stolen rail bars and clips which may have caused the derailment.
