About me

Hello, salaams, and welcome!

My name is Jazzy (he/him). I love Wikipedia, I use it daily, and I believe in its purpose and principles. I believe the distribution of free, accessible, and verifiable information is a goal worth pursuing. I also believe that collective effort is a good way to both expand Wikipedia's knowledge base and to protect it from misinformation and bias. I've also been an anonymous contributor for a long time, but recently, I thought it'd be good to make an account and engage with the community.

By education, I'm an academic historian and a political scientist, with a particular focus on Islamic history, the colonial era, and the postcolonial era. I also have a general interest in Islam and other religions, as well as in art, literature, philosophy, and culture. Apart from English, I have varying degrees of proficiency and working experience with Arabic, Turkish, French, Spanish, Latin, Urdu, and Hindi (though I wouldn't be comfortable doing any translation work yet).

It's nice to meet you all, and I hope to contribute to this great project, and maybe make some friends!!
