Upcoming expiry of your ipblock-exempt right
[edit]Hi, this is an automated reminder as part of Global reminder bot to let you know that your WP:IPBE right which gave you the ability to bypass IP address blocks will expire on 23:42, 9 October 2025 (UTC). If your IP is still blocked, please renew by following the instructions at the IPBE page; otherwise, you do not need to do anything. Semi-welcome back
[edit]Hey there JCMLuis. I hope you're doing well in life, and that the job hunt doesn't take too long. However, I also hope that you consider sticking around even when you do get a job. You have great editing skills and we could use more of that on the website! But also, don't do anything beyond your capabilities as an editor ;) ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 18:10, 17 October 2025 (UTC)
ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message
[edit]Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:55, 18 November 2025 (UTC)
You are invited to participate in the Destubathon of the Americas, a contest/editathon which will run from May 1 to May 31. The goal is to destub as many of our 475,000+ stubs for the Americas (from Alaska down to Chile) as possible. A good chance to have fun in expanding many of our old stale stubs and win up to £2000 ($2680) in Amazon vouchers for expanding stub articles. Sign up in the Contestants/participants section on the contest page if interested. Even if not interested in prizes you are still warmly welcome to participate in it as an editathon! Hopefully we can achieve something significant in the month of May together! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:06, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
A barnstar for you!

| As long as you're not editing at work, and can maintain a work-life balance, then cheers to you only being semi-retired from editing! No pressure, just thought you could use another barnstar :P ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 23:40, 5 May 2026 (UTC) |
Re: Yutu on Guam
[edit]I couldn't find anything in newspapers about Guam damage from Yutu. I saw a few newspaper articles about Guam being a staging area for FEMA, but no damage. And that tracks with NCDC reports of it barely being a tropical storm on the island. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 00:27, 20 October 2026 (UTC)
- @Hurricanehink: so how should I deal with the damage estimates stated in the article? The power outages could imply property damage, but even so, I cannot find anything regarding crop damage. There were preliminary damage assessments underway for helping damaged farms and businesses (if there were any), but I never found a follow up. Also thank you for trying to find info for this matter. —JCMLuis 01:24, 20 October 2026 (UTC)
- Maybe something basic like “Crop damage was estimated at X”. I hate to use passive voice, but having kinda vague word leaves open for that covering minor damage that’s too minor to have been recorded anywhere. Happy to try and help. Hurricanehink mobile (talk) 01:52, 20 October 2026 (UTC)
