His compositional oeuvre of over 80 works drew inspiration from a wide range of sources and utilized an array of performative forces. Patria, a 12-part music-theatre series written over a 40-year period, was his most ambitious creative achievement.[1]
His compositional oeuvre of over 240 works includes music for solo and duo instruments, chamber ensembles, orchestra and band, choral and vocal pieces, and children's and chamber operas. The piano figures prominently with 35 sonatas written from 1967-2019. The expressive dimension of his style is evident in his 24 lyrics for solo instrument (or voice) and ensemble as well as the four divertissement. Humour is another element in his compositional style, such as the parody .
