Capital Swimmer's Profile
|
Hello there!
[edit]Welcome to my slice of Wikipedia! I edit under the username Capital Swimmer. I am based out of the Washington, D.C. area, and my primary focus on this encyclopedia is improving, organizing, and drafting articles related to the world of competitive swimming.
As someone with a deep appreciation for the sport (and someone who frequently hits the pool for distance freestyle and IM drill sets!), I am passionate about ensuring that aquatic sports data is accurate, properly formatted, and kept up to date.
My Focus Areas
[edit]My editing work primarily revolves around the following competitive swimming organizations and tournaments:
- USA Swimming: I spend a lot of time analyzing club rankings, mapping out Local Swimming Committees (LSCs), and updating championship meet results across the country.
- NCAA Division I: I follow collegiate swimming closely, tracking team performance metrics and maintaining the NCAA Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships and NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships pages.
- World Aquatics: When the international season is underway, I help update tournament brackets, Olympic qualifying times, and global medalist tables.
What I Do on Wikipedia
[edit]I enjoy the technical side of Wikipedia just as much as the writing. You will often find me:
- Designing, fixing, and maintaining complex wikitables for tournament results and collegiate statistics.
- Writing clear, neutral wikitext for new swim club profiles and athlete biographies.
- Doing occasional copy-editing on articles related to U.S. politics and sports history.
Beyond Swimming
[edit]When I'm not writing MediaWiki code or tracking NCAA swim times, you can probably find me in the pool completing my own training sets, practicing my Spanish, or cheering on my local D.C. teams and favorite teams, especially the Commanders, Capitals, Wizards, D.C. United, and FC Barcelona.
