Billy Trudel (born 1960) is an American singer, recording artist, songwriter, and vocal coach. Born in Pasadena, California, Billy is best known for his extensive work as a lead and backing vocalist, touring and recording as a member of the Elton John Band from 1995 to 2001, and serving as the frontman for the rock bands Lazer, Slang The City and Warpipes.

Biograghy

Billy Trudel was born in Pasadena, California, in 1960. Raised later in the San Fernando Valley (Granda Hills) He developed an early interest in motown, old-school R&B, blues, and rock, listening to artists like Sam Cooke, Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Led Zeppelin, and Black Sabbath as his influences.

In 1981, Billy recorded the track "I Hear Voices" with the band Lazer at Scotti Brothers Records, working with engineer Tony Papa and producer Kim Espy. During the 1980s, the studios hired him and he became one of the top session vocalist associated with Sony, Warner Brothers and A&M Records.

In 1985, Billy Trudel signed his first major recording contract with Chrysalis Records as the lead vocalist for the band The City. The group was formed by producer and keyboardist Peter McIan and featured musicians, drummer Jerry Speiser (formerly of Men at Work), guitarist Stuart Mathis, and bassist Wade Biery. The City released their studio album, Foundation, in 1986. The projects first single "Walk Away" was in heavy rotation on MTV and the follow-up single "Planets in Motion," which was played on the radio worldwide and became a popular song for weddings.

Warpipes In 1990, Trudel signed with Artful Balance/JCI as the lead vocalist for Warpipes, a melodic rock band formed alongside Elton John’s core touring and studio band.

The band released the album, Holes in the Heavens, in 1991. The album was later re-released on Bridge Recordings.

Live Touring with Elton John and Billy Joel (1995–2001) Billy Trudel met Elton John in 1991 during a promotional tour with Warpipes in New York, later performing with Elton at the Academy Awards In 1995, Trudel officially joined the Elton John Band as a backing vocalist for his live shows.

During his six-years of touring, Trudel shared the stage with both Elton John and Billy Joel on their "Face to Face" stadium tours, featuring both artists' with both bands live on stage.

Also in 1995 he singed a recording contract with MTM Records (Germany) with the band Public Domain he formed with band mates

In October 2000 Billy did a live album and concert film with Elton John: One Night Only. it was recorded live at Madison Square Garden with producer Phil Ramon.

In 2002 he was asked to sit on the Board of Governors for NARAS (Grammys) till 2004 replacing recording artist Eddie Money. Also, in 2002 he opened his own music house Billy Trudel Music, with longtime friends Dave Young, Bruce Watson and Tony Rader, doing music for national television commercials Folgers, Budweiser, Mitsubishi and Mastercard just to name a few.

Billy Trudel has been featured on other artist recoding's. M C Lyte (Beyond the Hype) Brotherhood Creed (Don't let the weather fool ya) Recorded with Bob Rock on Mötley Crüe's Decade of Decadence with Moon Cahoun, Jack Blades, Tommy Shaw and Tommy Lee. He also contributed backing vocals to Sam Kinison recording of the song (Gonna Raise Hell) with friend Eddie Money. Trudel's versatile vocals have also been featured on melodic hard rock and progressive projects, including Seventh Key (I Will Survive and The Raging Fire) and Steve Overland (Epic).

In 2014 He met up with longtime friend guitarist Michael Thompson to write and record for a new project the Culver Kingz which was released on Escape Records (UK) in 2015.

Since then, he has been helping young artist find their voice with his unique vocal style teachings and is currently working on an audio book explaining his vocal techniques.
