I'm a professional full-stack web developer with over 20 years of experience building software. I edit Wikipedia in my spare time because I value accurate, well-sourced information and like helping to keep articles in good shape.
Mostly I just try to make articles clearer without changing what the sources say. If a sentence is confusing or clumsy, I'll rework it but I'll go back to the references first to make sure I'm not accidentally bending the meaning. I'd rather leave something alone than add a claim I can't back up.
Day to day that's pretty unglamorous stuff: fixing typos, tidying up wording, checking whether old external links are dead, swapping in working ones, adding a citation where a sentence clearly needs one.
