Request to rename article to "Yeesookyung"

[edit]

Hello, This is a request submitted by Yeesookyung Studio, the official studio of the artist.

We would like to request a change of this article’s title from “Yee Soo-kyung” to “Yeesookyung,” which is the official and internationally used spelling of the artist’s name.

This single-word romanization is consistently used in: - The artist’s official website: https://www.yeesookyung.com/ - Museum and gallery materials - Exhibition catalogues and major publications

As per Wikipedia’s naming conventions and its practice of using official spellings for contemporary public figures, we believe the article should reflect the artist’s preferred and official English name: Yeesookyung.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Best regards, Yeesookyung Studio 211.63.206.173 (talk) 04:04, 17 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

This is a request submitted by Yeesookyung Studio, the official studio of the artist If true, then I would strongly recommend you read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest (COI), which includes guidance for editors with a COI. If the name "Yeesookyung" is used more widely in reliable sources, then it would be a rather uncontroversial move, although it may be safer to list it at Wikipedia:Requested moves instead. - BlueEleephant (talk · contribs) 02:55, 5 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Edit: Looking through Wikipedia Reference Search (just that advanced search alone), I have only found one instance of generally reliable sources referring to Yeesookyung as "Yee Soo-Kyung" against over 16 referring to her as "Yeesookyung". As such, this does seem to be an uncontroversial move, and thus, I will perform the move, if nobody ends up objecting. - BlueEleephant (talk · contribs) 03:07, 5 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Done, with a rather belated notice, as I guess I forgot to post this notice yesterday. - BlueEleephant (talk · contribs) 15:14, 5 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
