Dr. Who vs. The Doctor

• : article is generally in good shape, and was moved within the window. Long enough, and cited to what appear to be reliable sources given the nature of the subject matter. QPQ is done. File:Doctor Who Wish World.jpg is tagged as a poster, but I can't see any sign that this is so -- we call it the title card in the article. Licences on the other two images check out and there are no other copyvio or BLP concerns. Both hooks are interesting, in the article and sourced.

• @UndercoverClassicist: This is a rare case where it is both a promotional poster and a promotional title card. It doesn't actually appear in the episode as the title card of the story, thereby making it strictly promotional; and serves the same format as a film poster (note that "promotional" is used in the article). All other DYK's for this series, and the previous series, have passed with the same tag and no issues. TheDoctorWho (talk) 03:49, 1 June 2025 (UTC)

• I'm not sure I follow you here -- so it's a promotional image put out by the TV company? I can wear that within the "long" version of the licence, as set out in the table (specifically: the image is poster art, a form of product packaging or service marketing. However, could I have some evidence for that status, ideally shared on the file page as well? At the moment we only have your word for its authorship, purpose, release circumstances etc. I see the Cultbox link, but that doesn't give any information about any of those, so on its own implies that Cultbox holds the copyright and the FUR is not valid. • Yes, exactly. These were shared on the show's official social media pages prior to broadcast. This source also refers to them as "spiffy motion title cards" (but as I said, they also serve the purpose as a poster by being "a poster designed and used to advertise and promote"). The CultBox link is used for ease of reference since it had all of the still versions in one location. Alex 21 may also be elaborate further, if need be, since he typically uploads these. • Thanks for the ping. The explanation above is pretty clear. They were released as motion-posters (or "spiffy motion title cards"), serving as a promotional poster in landscape-mode. As we likely cannot upload a motion-poster, an edition was uploaded as a screenshot of the original motion-poster, available through the CultBox link. -- Alex_21 _TALK 04:21, 2 June 2025 (UTC)

Hey, well done on another well-written article! There are no major issues here and Earwig shows no copyright violations. I ran the IABot to archive sources and also made some small edits. Here are my comments:

Lead:

1. Is it possible to bring the ref and its information down to the main prose? It is usually discouraged to use refs in the lead (unless it is controversial, which this is not), and it would help the development/casting sections.  Done
2. The lead (and reception) say that the false reality is "heteronormative", but I cannot find this in the plot or the production section and it seems to be important - could this please be added somewhere?  Done
3. The lead is a bit short - could you please expand it briefly with some production details (e.g. the baby and animals causing issues for the production)?  Done

Plot - Could you briefly say who the Rani is? Also, I struggled to understand this sentence - "with the help of the Doctor's attempts to return Belinda home, intending to rescue Omega, creator of the Time Lords, from the realms below" - could you please split it up/reword it? Furthermore, could you please explain that Conrad projects his vision through television transmissions or something similar as I was a bit confused by the "the Doctor watches Conrad's transmission" bit.  Done - added Rani explanation in lead

Development:

1. "the character would not be burdened with continuity" - Could you maybe please reword and/or briefly explain this?  Done
2. "so that newer viewers might discover her past stories" - How so?  Done
3. Is there anymore clarity/information as why Davies does not see the Rani as evil?  Done-ish, simply reworded to make it clearer, since it was sort of already there
4. Is there any way to briefly explain how the Rani has two incarnations as one either here or in the plot?  Done

Casting: Could you please explain how Conrad had previously appeared in this season? Also - many of the guest characters mentioned here could be briefly mentioned here or in the plot section to explain their roles in the episode to help aid readers. Partly done - expanded on Conrad, the guest characters while present, aren't quite as relevant to the plot

Production design:

1. "The camp was designed to be accessible to everyone living there" - I am a bit confused by this - is this referring to the cast or characters? Also, what is "camp"?  Done-ish reworded slightly, this is the camp that's mentioned in the plot
2. Could you please briefly explain how birds inspired the set?  Done
3. "as a result of the character's backstory" - Could you please briefly explain how for readers unfamiliar with her backstory?  Done

Filming:

1. " while he was production was still underway on the 2024 Christmas special, "Joy to the World", which he also directed" - I think there is a mistake here, could you please reword this?  Done
2. "Recording began "a couple of week" after editing had wrapped on the holiday episode" - Same as above (Sorry, I am not trying to be annoying)  Done
3. "one of which being a crane shot" - Same here  Done
4. Could you please clarify whether the opening scene took place in Bavaria or if it just takes place there?  Done
5. Is there any information on where the forest was?  Not done - not specified in the source
6. I am a bit confused by the picture - Could you clarify if the forest pictured is the forest that it was filmed in or if it is a random forest in Bavaria which the forest is similar to?  Done

Broadcast and reception:

1. "placing it as the fifth most-watched programme that day" - Could you please clarify which day?  Done
2. "social commentary communicated through the heteronormative reality." - Is there any way that this can be expanded upon briefly, or if any information regarding this could go in the production section?  Done
3. There are a lot of "highlighted" here - could some of these be changed? Also, can it be clarified as to whether these are negative/positive/neutral highlights?  Done
