Another WISCNET
[edit]"The goal of the University of Wisconsin/IBM Joint Study is to enable CSNET participation by IBM VM/SP systems via connection to the Telenet public data network. To achieve this goal, standard Department of Defense protocols are being implemented under VM/SP on a 4331 Group 2 system. Included are protocols for transport and internet functions (TCP - Transmission Control Protocol and IP - Internet Protocol), file transfer (FTP - File Transfer Protocol), mail transport (SMTP - Simple Mail Transport Protocol), and remote system login (TELNET). A Series/1, connected to the 4300, provides an implementation of the CCITT standard X.25 protocol. The X.25 implementation, which has been certified for connection to Telenet, is an IBM product. The Wisconsin project involves implementing the higher level protocols on the 4300 and building an interface from IP to the Series/1 X.25 package." -- Polluks ★ 11:30, 8 August 2026 (UTC)
