Has "Urocyonini" been correctly described?

[edit]

The Mammal Diversity Database treats *Urocyon* as *incertae sedis* at the tribe level. Although the French version lists "Urocyonini Trouessart, 1885," the original source places *Urocyon* within the Caninae without assigning it to a specific tribe; furthermore, no naming at the family-group level could be confirmed. コロネン (talk) 04:36, 1 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

I agree. I can't find indication that this has been formally named. --Aranae (talk) 21:48, 3 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
It certainly isn't in Trouessart's Catalogue des mammiferes vivants et fossiles (carnivores) (1885). Apart from French Wikipedia (unsourced), I can only find the tribe mentioned in Taxonomicon, which has no details or sources. I think it should be removed from the taxobox.    Jts1882 | talk  11:43, 4 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
