Futurama

Apparently we have a troll here willing to start an edit war on Tress McNeal not being in Futurama despite her literally being in the credits so long as behind the voice forgot to add some kind of verification mark. I'm sure this violates a bunch of wikipedia policies that usually require you to put citation needed tags instead.

I don't know what MacNeille (not McNeal, as you wrote) did on Futurama, but @Waxworker is not a troll, and there is no such policy regarding "citation needed" tags. On the contrary, our policies are quite clear: WP:V says "Any material that needs an inline citation but does not have one may be removed", and WP:BURDEN says "The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material". It is a fact that she was on Futurama. If there's no proof she was ever in Futurama then maybe go ahead and remove her from the Futurama, List_of_Futurama_characters and Futurama:_Bender's_Big_Score pages instead of acting the smug WP:LAWYER and circlejerking about how the wikipedia policies justify the trolling of your wikibuddy. I never doubted that your article edits were in good faith. You may well be right regarding MacNeille's roles in Futurama. But we still need sources, and your rude attitude doesn't help. The deletion is obviously nonsense. It's pencil-pushing wikipedia policies for the sake of pencil pushing. Instead of trying to make wikipedia better by asking for a good source, it's making wikipedia worse by deleting the most obvious of facts. I can give you a dozen sources that mention her being in Futurama, but I have just an inkling I'm just going to get another WP page chucked at me while being threatened with another ban if I add any sources you don't approve of.

There's also the credits of every episode and movie that she's in. It should not have to be my responsibility as a passerby who is just trying to keep this (whether intentional or not) malicious edit from being the norm to put all this effort in just because the editor has more edits than me and is better at conjuring up WP pages. @Mijzelffan: - My removal of the Futurama roles was not trolling or malicious - BTVA doesn't mark the roles as verified so I removed them as the cited source doesn't verify the roles. I wouldn't describe her being in Futurama as "the most obvious of facts" - whether X actor was in X media isn't a 'the sky is blue' situation, particularly as the credits do not specify the specific roles voiced in the show. Double checking an episode's credits I can see that Tress MacNeille is credited under 'Guest Starring', but with no roles specified.

In regards to the sources you've linked, TVTropes, IMDB, and The Infosphere are unreliable WP:USERGENERATED sources - IMDB per WP:IMDB, TvTropes per WP:RSPTVTROPES, and The Infosphere is a fan wiki. The SBV Talent ref doesn't list any roles, and the Los Angeles times ref describes her as a "“Futurama” voice [vet]" but also doesn't specific specific roles, and I don't have a Washington Post account/subcription so I'm unable to review the content of the article - can you quote the relevant part of the article discussing her? Collider is owned by Valnet, and is noted as a situational source by WP:VG/RS per WP:VALNET due to much of its output being churnalism, but using it as a source here seems fine. In the credits of Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs, Futurama: Bender's Game, and Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder, she is also listed, but the roles played aren't named, instead pictured - I think listing 'additional voices' would be best in the case of Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs where many roles are pictured, and without specifying role in the other instances.

I've re-added the roles I can find sources for, with the main series of Futurama sourced to the /Film and Collider ref, and the movies and video game sourced to the credits with specific roles removed. Waxworker (talk) 20:27, 9 May 2026 (UTC)
