Where is the source for planned by Iran in the sidebar?

As far as I've read its been alleged that Iraqi and Syrian Shia militias are allegedly responsible. Where is the US statement that Iran planned it? There is no source attached either. Islamic Resistance in Iraq

Is there a specific quote that the Islamic Resistance specifically targeted Tower 22? Because that source that claims to be only mentions at least one attack on the border without explicitly naming the base. Unless it can be found that they had specifically named the site in their attack, I’m afraid directly connecting IRI with the attack amounts to WP:OR. The Guardian says that Responsibility for Saturday’s attack on Tower 22, a military outpost on the Jordanian Syrian Iraqi borders was claimed by the Iranian backed umbrella group Islamic Resistance, 🌺 Cremastra (talk) 02:34, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Legality? Still True?

This was posted (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassination_of_Qasem_Soleimani#Legality) when Soleimani was killed:

"The Charter of the United Nations generally prohibits the use of force against other states, if a country does not consent to it on its territory. The Government of Iraq did not grant permission to the U.S. to target a military commander from another country on its soil. Some legal experts believe a lack of consent from Iraq makes it difficult for the U.S. to justify the attack."

Merge February 2024 United States airstrikes in Iraq and Syria into Tower 22 drone attack. The two are logistically and narratively inseparable. Per WP:NEVENT, the U.S. strikes do not possess independent standing; they were a direct, one-time retaliatory response to the Tower 22 attack and have no broader strategic context outside that specific causal chain. Per WP:NOPAGE, our readers are better served by a single entry that covers the complete operational arc, from the initial Iranian parry to the U.S. response.
