Midway Gardens

This article, following BoxRec, has Zale competing several times at Midway Gardens, Chicago in 1934. The article on Midway Gardens however, states that the venue was demolished in 1929. Something is wrong. Maybe a new venue with the same name? Tigerboy1966 08:10, 17 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hey @Tigerboy1966, probably not wise of me to speculate, but perhaps it’s supposed to be "Midway Arena" instead of "Midway Gardens". See the following link showIng a ticket to a boxing event from 1933:

I think you are right. BoxRec has the card you linked to as taking place at Midway Gardens, which is obviously wrong. Midway Arena was definitely a Chicago venue and was used as a venue for wrestling according the article on Fred Kohler (wrestling promoter). Tigerboy1966 15:01, 18 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
