What makes these Unknowns especially troublesome is that anyone who comes in contact with them loses their memories.

- Comment: I have an extremely strong preference for the first hook or a variation of it. That hook plays with the core concept of the book, which are entities that erase themselves from the memories of those who view them.

Fresh, sufficiently long, good quality sources. QPQ done. I see no copyright issues, but I do see that the last couple of sentences need a citation. I am afraid that I cannot accept the first hook: it is simply not what the source says. ALT1 is verifiable and interesting. Surtsicna (talk) 22:54, 20 November 2025 (UTC)
- @Surtsicna: Added citation + corrected info in that last section. I've replaced the source for ALT0 with the Publishers Weekly review, which explicitly describes the memory-erasing entities from the book and should be sufficient for verifiability. - It still does not support what the hook says, ThadeusOfNazereth. The hook says that we will not remember reading the book. Surtsicna (talk) 09:51, 21 November 2025 (UTC)
ALT1 and the article are approved. Surtsicna (talk) 22:07, 21 November 2025 (UTC)
Separation of SCP version vs the recent rewrite/publication
[edit]The recent rewrite and publication is not connected to the SCP Foundation.
The current synopsis uses the rewrites name Marie Quinn but says she works for the SCP Foundation which is not the case in the rewrite as she works for the "unknown organization". Additionally in the original SCP version her name is Marion Wheeler.
I suggest either a section going over the differences between the original and rewrite or only mentioning the original in passing.
Contents of the original (such as the SCP Foundation) should be excluded from the synopsis. Scoutstheman (talk) 15:32, 14 November 2025 (UTC)

- This would be my suggestion. Sadly, I am not versed enough in the original version, let alone where and how the two versions differ, to put it together myself. ~2025-38500-76 (talk) 03:01, 5 December 2025 (UTC)
Add link to "memetics"?
[edit]My first thought upon reading this was that I wanted to know what memetics was. Of course I'd look that up on Wikipedia itself, so I was surprised there wasn't a link to that page from this one. I am not an editor, so I'd just like to request someone add one. Thanks! ~2026-46729-34 (talk) 14:55, 27 August 2026 (UTC)
