History of the Caesar

This is somewhat incorrect. The Caesar was invented at the Owl's Nest Bar in the Westin Hotel in Calgary to compliment the opening of a new restaurant named Marco's. Officially, Marco's really had nothing to do with the creation of the drink.

Also, while The Keg does sell Caesar's, I have never found any claims that they have been responsible for the 'popularization' of the cocktail. This is a little far fetched. Also, in relation to 'The Keg Sized Caesar', the Keg sells 'Keg Sized' versions of MOST of their alcoholic beverages. And many other Canadian Restaurants serve 'house sized' Caesars with double the alcohol. Hardly a rarity. To this effect, I have deleted the claim of The Keg 'popularizing' the beverage.

Bad newcomer edits

Because this article has a “Peacock” maintenance template, it is surfaced in the Suggested Edits feed as needing copyediting. As a result, the article is sometimes shown to newer editors and will continue to be surfaced until the maintenance template is removed, or until an administrator changes the configuration for this copyedit Suggested Edit at: Special:CommunityConfiguration/GrowthSuggestedEdits

Please keep in mind that while some newcomer edits may be minor or imperfect, most newcomers completing Suggested Edits are editing in good faith and are still learning the basics. Offering guidance or support where appropriate can be quite impactful for these new editors. Even a small, constructive interaction can make the difference between a newcomer who disengages and one who stays, builds skills, and becomes a successful contributor.

I don't mind helping out the newcomers. If you check the edit history you'll see that my reverts always come with an explanation in the edit summary, often linked to the appropriate section of the MOS. You'll also see that the vast majority of the edits in the last couple months have been bad edits by newcomers that have nothing to do with the issues raised by the peacock tag. I have been unable to spend any time actually improving this article, because all of my time here has been devoted to reverting bad edits. If you're going to expend effort to attract newcomers to this article, maybe you should expend some effort to attract mentors here too. GA-RT-22 (talk) 09:46, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
