The Chosen One is particularly common in Young adult fiction as it often focuses on identity formation. Kim Wilkins says "the genre demands this kind of correspondence between YA identity angst and fantasy’s destined-for-greatness inclinations."[1] She also interprets the Chosen One narrative as focusing on class: "it is often linked to class and individualism, rather than the kind of equity and collectivism YAF often celebrates in resistance and revolutions."[1] The void century (talk) 22:02, 30 December 2022 (UTC)

[edit]The cover image shows Luke Skywalker as an example of the chosen one. However in the Star Wars franchise his father Anakin Skywalker was the chosen one and Luke was just apart of the prophecy. I think as a suggestion this should be changed. T-ZER0 (talk) 20:40, 28 September 2024 (UTC)
- This article is about the chosen one as a media trope, which Luke Skywalker is. Just because he isn't called "the chosen one" in the Star Wars franchise doesn't necessarily mean anything. Di (they-them) (talk) 22:09, 28 September 2024 (UTC)

- Okay, back to the topic. In the Star Wars lore the only time the name "Chosen One" was mentioned was in the prequel trilogy. It was never mentioned in the original trilogy so the image is still inaccurate. T-ZER0 (talk) 16:02, 14 January 2025 (UTC)

- Frodo also isn't a chosen one, he just happens to be the person the ring ends up with and is a particularly moral and strong-willed individual. Paul Atreides is also a direct deconstruction of the chosen one trope, as his chosen one status is entirely fabricated in-story for political purposes.
