insurgency?

[edit]

"The top members of the Taliban as an insurgency, as of August 2021"

do they still count as an insurgency? ~2026-11487-66 (talk) 22:28, 22 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Definitely not, it just probably hasn't been updated. Let me take a look. TEMPO156 (talk) 02:44, 23 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
I just took out the insurgency part and left the list alone. Those people are still mostly in their positions. It could be improved more, but that will take more time than I have now. If you want to do it yourself, you'll have to make an account. TEMPO156 (talk) 02:46, 23 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Uncited

[edit]

I know the lead section is generally a summary which doesn't need to be cited, but seeing as how someone rewrote it, could someone show the citations for it? If not, it may be removed.

"They were internationally condemned and isolated for their human rights practices. The Northern Alliance continued a civil war against the group and maintained international recognition as a continuation of the previous government.

After the September 11 attacks in 2001, the United States demanded the Taliban surrender al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, who was residing in the country. Upon refusing to do so, Afghanistan was invaded by a US-led coalition and the Taliban government was overthrown, most of the group fleeing to neighboring Pakistan. Following the invasion, the Taliban regrouped and mounted an insurgency against the US-backed Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and coalition forces. After signing a peace deal with the US, the Taliban conducted a nationwide offensive in 2021 culminating in the fall of Kabul, the collapse of the Islamic Republic, and the reinstatement of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan."
