Sdf dissolved?
[edit]Now that 100% of territory is under government control and Syrian forces entered hasakah and qamishli doesn’t that mean that sdf no longer exists? ~2026-76222-6 (talk) 07:29, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
Proposed changes
[edit]According to this article https://znetwork.org/znetarticle/after-rojava/ the SDF is no longer backed by the USA. I think it is time make changes to reflect this Slodkiszczur (talk) 07:03, 8 February 2026 (UTC)
Dissolved or not?
[edit]I think Mazlum Abdi announced that the integration of SDF to be "fully complete." Under the integration agreement, the integration of SDF meant their dissolution as an independent entity. So even though he "came short" of announcing dissolution, there's an argument to be brought about whether the SDF really still exists (like the latest edit claimed) or effectively dissolved (like previous edit claimed). - Better to leave it until dissolution is actually announced, in my opinion. As i added and cited in the article dissolution was not announced and there is for example the YPJ issue still on the table. No reason not to leave it some time until we get proper clarification on dissolution, what that means, and so on, than trying to go off of a single speech from a relatively unrelated event which at its core leaves us little information to go off of. - I added a note, similar to the one on PKK, to clarify that statement. Thanks to the editor who pointed it out. HurricaneEdgar 10:40, 22 August 2026 (UTC)

- In his interview with Rudaw, Abdi said that he did not want to use the term "dissolution," preferring to describe the process as the SDF’s gradual integration into the Syrian army. HurricaneEdgar 23:48, 22 August 2026 (UTC)
- Good catch! I was going to actually post that interview in this talk page but I hadn't yet finished it, you're one step ahead of me. :) I've still got to sit down and watch through it properly but the picture he was painting to me was that of.an ongoing process, as opposed to some of the reporting out of last week, with the caveat that I don't know when this interview was recorded. - There were meetings today, tomorrow we will probably get some announcements that will officialize things, going from from the press. Hopefully this will offer enough resolution to add some finality.
- "Since yesterday, Mazloum Abdi and Ilham Ahmed have met in Damascus with Foreign Minister Asad Al-Shaybani and today with the head of the Syrian transitional government, Ahmed Al-Shari.
- Also today, a security meeting was held at the Ministry of Interior with security commanders from Hasakah province and officials from the Syrian transitional government to discuss implementation processes related to completing integration into state security institutions."
- ---
- "Also, according to reports, agreements have been reached regarding the distribution of posts within government institutions, a mechanism to complete the remaining provisions of the January 29 agreement..
- However, no official statements have yet been made regarding this information by either the transitional government, the Autonomous Administration, or the SDF..
- Sources reported that the transitional government is preparing to issue statements and decisions to reveal the members of yesterday's meetings and the agreements reached."
