Hello, it is truly interesting that the word "annexed" is used here in reference to the Hungarian, German or Italian occupations, whereas for the Croatian occupation the term "incorporated" is used. I understand that this might be a coincidence. But even more interesting is the use of the term "area" regarding the first three occupiers, while "some villages" is used for Croatia. This cannot be a coincidence, given that, for instance, the territory seized by Hungary is four times smaller than those "some villages" occupied by Croatia.~~Me ~2026-51535-61 (talk) 09:56, 24 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
The relevant difference seems to be that already-existing states (Germany, Italy, Hungary) expanded their previous territory through annexation, whereas the Independent State of Croatia was a newly defined state that also included some of that territory.
