Ram kand mool

I don't have sources for any of this but there are some inconsistencies in the Ram kand mool section.

First of all, agave plants, including sisal, don't have tubers. My guess is this is a sort of slang expression that's peculiar to India.

Second, Lord Rama's exile can't have been any more recent than 2000 years ago, but the sisal plant wasn't brought to India until the 19th century. So the modern Ram kand mool can't be the same plant that Rama ate during his exile. It may have the same name and taste similar, but it's not the same plant. What this article says is that the material sold under this name is likely to be the core of the rosette of an Agave, including sisal, not a tuber, which as you note, agaves don't have. Vendors are fooling people, I suspect. Peter coxhead (talk) 06:28, 18 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
