First American since...

If Kuss were by some margin the most successful American rider, or seem to be on the cusp of becoming so, then comparison to previous US riders might be relevant. Otherwise "first American since..." seems like the embodiment of WP:SYSTEMIC. An article should not be skewed towards readership of one nation in particular. I wrote "XC short-track" as I saw the event called "Cross-country short track" e.g. on the world championships page and figured XC was a common abbreviation for cross-country. I could just remove the XC if it causes confusion with the main cross-country event? Or rewrite the whole sentence to make it much more explicit, e.g. Olympian Howard Grotts and XC short-track world champion Christopher Blevins. → "Howard Grotts, an Olympian in 2016, and Christopher Blevins, winner of the short track event at the 2021 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships." Because there are so many, it is possible that they get bunched up and push past the bottom of the text, but only on wider displays, so it is up to you if one should be removed (such as one of the 2023 images).
