To add to article
[edit]Shouldn't it be mentioned in the lead paragraph of this article that the participants in roller derby were initially all female, and that today most participants are still female? That's a defining aspect of this sport, so why leave it out of the lead paragraph? ~2026-37846-32 (talk) 15:25, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
- Are you referring to contemporary roller derby, or the history of roller derby dating back to the 1950s? Because while modern roller derby was reborn by efforts led by women including the eventual formation of the WFTDA, historic roller derby in the days of Leo and Jerry Seltzer was indeed very much a co-ed enterprise. The article History of roller derby covers this quite well, and is linked within the History section of this article, which is focused more on the game than its history.
