Citation
[edit]No potency value is stated. Janssen patented the compound in the 1960s and provides a potency value but clearly states that it uses an animal model. So there IS a document with at least animal models of activity. But the citation provided gives no such value.
So where did the value come from and in what species was it tested? ~2026-40569-32 (talk) 10:13, 31 August 2026 (UTC)
- The introduction in the cited reference says "The structure of this compound was investigated as part of a study on the structure-activity relationship of narcotic analgesics. The title compound is 186 times more potent than morphine." They don't say where that potency value was taken from. I will check in Paul Janssen's textbook on these compounds to see if he has more details listed in there. Meodipt (talk) 02:19, 8 September 2026 (UTC)
- Unfortunately Janssen's textbook "Synthetic Analgesics" was published in 1960, the year before bezitramide was discovered, so this whole group of compounds post-date his most detailed review of the field. The patents may be the best source available if there are no other literature references, though many publications of that era have not yet been digitized and are now not easy to find outside of a university library.
