- Not in my either, but my dict claims: Nŏtus, Nŏtos, i, south wind. Notius is probably some Medieval Latin. Said: Rursus 19:43, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Hello. I have a conflict of interest because of my connection with NOIRLab, so I am proposing this here rather than making the edit directly. I would like to suggest adding the annotated NOIRLab image of Piscis Austrinus to the article, while keeping the existing naked-eye constellation image in place. The proposed image is available on Wikimedia Commons here: Commons:File:Piscis Austrinus (Annotated) (piscis-austrinus-ann).tiff. Suggested caption: The constellation Piscis Austrinus showing the IAU boundaries, the constellation stick figure, and labels for its brightest stars. Astrophotograph by Eckhard Slawik, from NOIRLab's 88 Constellations project. I propose adding the image in the “Features” section, above the current naked-eye constellation image, so that readers first see a labeled/annotated view of the constellation and then the existing view of how it appears to the naked eye. The existing image would remain in the article. The proposed wikitext is:

The current article already has substantial text in the “Features” and “Stars” sections, and the screenshot shows that the existing naked-eye image appears there with room for an additional visual aid without removing or replacing it. The annotated NOIRLab image would help readers identify the constellation boundaries, stick figure, and labeled stars, complementing the existing naked-eye image rather than duplicating it. The Commons file is released under a free license suitable for use on Wikipedia. I am also completely open to the following alternatives: The caption wording can be adjusted. The external caption link can be replaced with a <ref> citation if preferred. The proposal can be withdrawn entirely if the community prefers the article as it stands. [edit]- The requirement that the author's name be shown in the caption in this many photographs appears promotional in nature.

- Hi @Spintendo
- Thank you for your feedback.
- If removing the author’s name from the caption would help address the concern and make the captions non-promotional, we can certainly do that.
- Please let us know if that would be an acceptable fix, and we can proceed with removing the author’s name from the captions. Marcodatadev (talk) 21:51, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

Hello. I have a disclosed conflict of interest because I am connected with NOIRLab, so I am requesting review rather than making the edit directly.
I propose adding the annotated Piscis Austrinus image below to the “Features” section, above the current naked-eye constellation image. I think this image could be a useful addition because it shows the IAU boundaries, constellation stick figure, and labels for the brightest stars while complementing the existing view.
